I conclude that Lyn and Ruth in particular are lacking in the romance department, and, of course, this excludes Peter...! Harry PS for those not into poetry, please read the first letter of each line A Rose for Mother (Acrostic) |

It's amazing how that kind of stuff will flow out with the tears. I've written tons of stuff thru tears, but here's the one I will share here, in loving memory of my son, Tim. He's been gone 15 years, but a day doesn't go by that I don't think of him. That's why your poem was so touching to me, Harry. I like to do something fun on Tim's birthday, so 2 years ago, my husband and I drove over to see Paul Rodgers in concert in California. We had a GREAT time. It was a happy day, for sure. And since I started this little tradition, I also make sure I begin or end with a poem, even if I don't feel like it. This is the one from June 12, 2006, his thirtieth birthday. ThirtyThirty’s the theme this yearOf the annual “birthday poem.”The numbers game,The colors gameThoughts swirl, on my way home. On my way home from CabazonOn a sungilt desert morn (mourn?)Rock and roll fantasy, lived last night -But thirty years ago this dayYou were born. That was the best day of my lifeA day I will always rejoice inThese milestones tremble, but alwaysI remember I have a choice in How to celebrate the dayA trip, a song, a friend, a cake!A way, a work, a will, a wonderA love, a life to make. The song last night reminded me “Tomorrow I’m gonna be at your side.”My love, my son, my angelThis morning, home, I ride. And on my back, a new shirtA cross with a heart that’s broken,Reminding me to cast my crownsAnd that mercy falls in many tokens. In melodies, in folks, in the wishing wellOf love, of peace, of hope, of joy.Blissful the sound of clarion bellRing recollections of you, my boy! Two years ago, I counted blessingsLast year’s theme was “missing you.”But this year – one of the milestones.Thirty pieces of silver,Thirty hearts of gold,Thirty. And today, the sky is so blue. Thirty years fled,Thirty thousand tears shedSixteen, not thirty you’ll always be.I know everything is all right now.I know we bothBe.RG In loving memory of Tim. June 12, 1976 - January 7, 1993. |
