I had been thinking today, that Harry's thread has brought some closeness and sharing among people who actually don't even know each other. Perhaps it is really the case to say: that's the power of POE.

Maria, you are right.

To every Poer who has suffered the loss of a loved one, hum, or animal; you are amongst friends who understand and share your pain more than you would think.

Ruth and Sue and Andy,

I am so sorry for the loss of your children.  There is absolutely nothing worse than losing a child.

My heart goes out to all of you.

My heart goes out to everyone here at POE. Is there anyone who hasn't been touched by grief over the death of someone they love, be it a family member, friend, or pet? Probably not.

Ruth you are so right about the death of someone we love being a pain that never goes away. It's been many, many years ago now, but my fiancé was killed in an automobile accident and mercifully, like your Tim, he was killed instantly. Although it's not the same as losing a child (a loss I can not imagine) I still find that I think about him sometimes and wonder what our lives would be like now had he lived.

Ray: Your sentiments that here at POE we are all amongst friends who understand and share each other’s pain brought tears to my eyes. I have certainly experienced that in the past week, when you all were such a comfort to me.

I don't wish to sound pious, nor do I go to church...my allegiance is within me. Anyone who knows me well would concur that I am the biggest of sinners....!Wink

Having said that, here is a poem on which I believe we can all reflect.

A Missive to God

Dear God, pardon me for being rude
But there are things to which you allude
That I frequently misunderstand
Written in your very own hand

Often scriptures that I read
Deal with avarice and greed
Or advise that I should renounce
The unpleasant sins that you pronounce

I don’t consider I over-indulge
(Though I must admit there is a bulge)
When I eat more than I should
I hope that I’m not misunderstood?

And if I think it’s my right to own
The fruits of labor others have sown
Or covet my neighbor’s prized possessions
Is this not of natural progression?

You tell me, God, I should resist
The evil thoughts that persist
And not give in to each temptation
The Devil offers with vile elation

Yet you send your angels when I’m in need
And they are most welcome, indeed
I cannot resist, but display my shame
When others suffer silently, just the same

Why God, am I a man of leisure
And perchance deny your displeasure?
I don’t consider myself to be
Ungrateful, or un-beholden to thee.

Tell me God if I have erred
And allowed your words to go un-heard
And from this, and each day on
I shall forever honor your only Son.

I posted a message to explain why I changed my avitar, but it appears to have gone AWOL!

Here is the reason...My wife, Mary, suggested I change it to one of pre-cancer, so here it is.  Sorry..........it's the best I can do...I'm usually the one behind the camera!Wink

A great pic Harry and Mary is right of course, as always! Keep up the brilliant work for us all to share and enjoy here in the POE forum, it clearly hits the spot!

Sorry Ruth its a bit late

Sweetest Ruth,

although you're far away,

it's great you're on these pages

day after day

as part of the POE family,

along with all the rest

you're cider, cream and jam I'd say,

the things I love the best.

If Mrs T was not around

I'd jump on a plane and see you

Kevin and Goldie would come along

and Goldie would even pee too

I think the excitement would be too much

for the dogs and I'd be in raptures

I would take you out, no need to go Dutch

I'll get a few bob for my tractor.

So there we are Ruth

I've said it now

you know just how I feel

forget the truth

I make this vow

although I am not real.
