My Daughter

You'll never really know, my dear,
Just how much you mean to me,
A mother's love, buried so deep,
That only my heart can see.

When I sit and really stare at you,
All I can do is grin,
Somewhere down deep inside,
I see myself within.

I'd never change a thing in you,
I thank God that your so fine,
Even when your at your worst,
I'm so proud that you are mine.

I know that I'm not perfect,
It's the best that I can do,
But everyday, I thank the lord,
For a daughter as special as you

A wonderful poem Lyn. Thanks for sharing it.

This poem was written with some one special in mind.

An Ode For One Who Cannot See.

My love, let me stroke your hair
And confirm that you are there –
Let me touch your endearing face
Open, honest, and full of grace
Trace my fingers o’er its contours
That I may know that, it is yours
Allow me then to touch your skin
Your wholesomeness yet, resides within
Draw near, that I may absorb your cologne
That identifies you alone
All these senses tell me you are mine
Your beauty unseen, forever benign
I adore you with compassion
No need to recognize in any other fashion
I need not ever use my eyes
Your tender being, tells no lies
Abstract loveliness you radiate
No other could ever imitate

There is no better way to start the morning than with some of Harry's poetry. It's great to have you back Harry Smile

Well, now, Chris and Sarah, that deserves another poem!Smile

Lovely poem, Lyn...Mary and I have two such daughters....

God’s Seasons

“Spring,” I ask, “why do you return
With your display of season’s beauty
Is it so, that ever, you must do your duty
And of God’s commands we learn?”

“Summer, why do you paint the sky of blue
Then warm our sandy beaches
And do as God, in His own way, teaches
So his vows you can then renew?”

“And Autumn, why do your leaves turn golden
Then fall upon the ground
Have you God’s commands now found
And, are you, unto Him, beholden?”

“Winter, do we always have to freeze
When the other seasons are now gone
Is it that their work is done
And we must now pray on bended knees?”

Eventide In The Australian Desert

Shades of the evening are slowly drawn
As the sun’s anger now abates,
Golden rays meld with plains of ochre,
                        Shadows awaken, elongated silhouettes -
                        Misshapen, awkward, new images created
Unlike that from which they are born.
A distant willy-willy begins its dance
                        Spinning rapidly in gypsy flamenco
It gyrates before the sinking orb,
Soundlessly, it kicks up heels of debris
                        Shapeless, vacuous arms
                        Clasped sensuously overhead.
                        Exhausted then, its promenade over
Disappears into dust from whence it came.
                        Lone dingo howls its intentions
                        A kill will be made
                        Beyond the rabbit-proof fence
                        Fifteen hundred miles of wire
                        Stretched, from state to state
No match for the hungry canine
The desert now prepares to sleep,
                        And there! A Taipan slithers
                        Rattus villisissimus freezes
                        Nervous contractions
                        Submission to deadly venom.
                        Darkness now, as bogong moths
                        Hover around the camp light
                        As dying embers cool.
                        Time now to sleep...
