The story unfolds on a frosty winter's night with a howling north east wind, the clouds scudding across the moonlit sky were interspaced with light flurries of snow, the car tracks in the lane which passed by the farm had become hard packed and were again beginning to ice over, the snow flurries were starting to fill the tracks with new laid snow. The farm situated in a small hamlet in North Yorkshire used to be owned by my son in law and daughter, outside the kitchen door an old bath was used for the horses to drink from when returning home after exercise. The cold temperature that night had frozen the water in the bath which and was now covered by a thin layer of snow. Every night just before retiring for bed my son in law would put on his boots and check the cattle in the covered yard and then check the horses to see if they were settled down for the night. On returning to the farmhouse he had to pass the bath that the horses used to quench their thirst. On approaching the bath he heard the sound of a cat meowing, looking round to see where the sound was coming from and knowing full well that the farm cats were all in the barn. On reaching the bath to his amazement there was this little black kitten in the bath, the bath was too high for the kitten to jump into but there was no trace of human or cat footprints in the snow, so how had this kitten arrived, my son in law gathered up the kitten and took it indoors, the next day my daughter asked the other people living in the village if anyone had lost a kitten, no one in the village had lost a kitten or could throw any light on as to how the kitten could have arrived - my story is about to begin. You may at this point be asking what has this story to do with Meditation and Relaxation I ask you to please read on This little black kitten spent the first weeks of his life in the farmhouse getting up to the usual mischief that kittens display and it was quite obvious that he was turning out to be quite a character, following my daughter wherever she went you could say more like a dog than a cat, however the time came when he had to join the other cats outside by which time he had been given the name Wetherby Wetherby soon asserted himself with the other cats even to the extent of being downright stupid, for such a young cat to exert himself at times on the older cats he was fast becoming a leader despite his junior status, this mischievous cat was up to every trick in the book. If he wanted to go in the farmhouse he would leap at the kitchen door, hang on to the latch handle with one paw and rattle the latch with his other paw till the door swung open and he entered the kitchen. To stop him doing, this the latch was fixed with a strong elastic on the inside of the door to prevent the latch being operated easily, no problem to Wetherby - up on the farmhouse kitchen roof and in through the bathroom window. Whilst my daughter groomed the horses he would leap up on their backs and watch her whilst she groomed the animal, the horses never battered an eyelid. When he was shut out of the stable, no problem he found a hole in the roof next news there was this black paw trying to enlarge the hole in the roof for him to try and get through. The time came in 2000 when my daughter and son in law were contemplating emigrating to Spain to train racehorses and the question was should Wetherby be considered, the question was not even discussed, Wetherby was defiantly going to Spain. Arrangements were made for his journey and I took him to Monarch Airlines commercial transport hub at Manchester Airport in his secure cat basket, I left him in the hands of the transporters knowing full well he was being received at Malaga Airport by my daughter. My daughter and son in law soon asked us if we would retire to Spain which we did in June 2002 Wetherby had soon settled down to the life in Spain enjoying the warmer climate despite his thick long bushy coat a long time since the little black kitten was found in the bath on that freezing moonlit night outside the farmhouse However, in every pets life a visit to the Vet is inevitable for checkups and attention to minor ailments, it was at his first visit to the Vet that his breed was established as no attention had been paid to this subject previously, he was just a farm cat, it was discovered after consultation with the Vet that Wetherby was in fact a Norwegian Forest Cat which explained some of his features predominantly the length of his fangs which are tremendous. At the age of 7 or as near as I can say not knowing Wetherby's true age he had to attend the same Vet in November 2002 for an operation, the operation was in itself successful but maybe due to his age the anaesthetic used was too much for his system. The Vet had given him the required revival dose to bring him round from the anaesthetic which eventually occurred and he was then allowed to be taken home with the advice that he would be okay later with rest. Later that evening I received a frantic telephone call from my son in law to go to the house as quickly as possible as they thought that Wetherby had passed away as they could not get any response from him, my daughter was devastated. I arrived to find Wetherby extremely cold and lifeless, I could not find any heartbeat or pulse he appeared not to be breathing. It was then I called on all those previous years of meditating and training of how to administer Reiki in an emergency situation, clasping both hands round Wetherby's body around his heart area I called on my guardian Angel and Reiki Guides to assist me with the work that I had to carry out, 15 minutes passed and nothing was happening, Wetherby seemed to be getting colder, I continued with the treatment I could feel the energy forces transmitting down my arms into my hands and out of my finger tips into Wetherby's body another 15 minutes passed by with no result, I was beginning to think that Wetherby would not pull through no matter what I tried, but deep down when your meditation thoughts are at their most powerful level something tells you to carry on with the treatment. Another 15 minutes passed by, again without any result, I was about to abandon the situation when I thought I felt the faintest heart tremor being unsure of the situation I continued with the treatment and again shortly afterwards I felt the same slight flutter of Wetherby's heart, my fingers were aching with pain due to the amount of energy transfer, I flicked my hands in turn to relive the pain to assist the energy to flow more freely and continued with the treatment. It was then I received the first indication that Wetherby's heart was about to function, it gave a massive thump and then seemed to echo away. The energy transfer through my fingers was now beginning to stimulate Wetherby's system to a greater extent, shortly afterwards his heart then gave a resounding double beat I knew the Angels had answered my call, his heart had this irregular beat for the next 5 minutes or so but eventually regained a rhythmic beat and then he began to purr in all it took about 90 minutes from start to finish then Wetherby just sat up and walked away as if nothing had happened. I concluded the treatment in my usual way by thanking the Angels and my Reiki Guides for their assistance with this treatment Every part of this story is true Wetherby now lives on into his nineteenth year, and to this day it is not known how that little black kitten arrived in the bath. It means a lot to me at the moment as a few weeks ago we had to have our old boy Milligan put to sleep aged 18. He had a funny heart beat from being a kitten, finally it got the better of him, his heart stopped pumping properly and his chest cavity filled with fluid. Cats are great at concealing serious illness and by the time we picked up there was something wrong it was too late. We went to our local RSPCA last Fiday and we've picked a new kitten. She is 8 weeks old and will be with us after Christmas. We can't wait as the house is so empty without Milligan. I know we are in for a whole load of turmoil, but that's kittens, and unlike puppies they arrive house trained. Thank you for sharing. |

Having an animal in the house is not every one's cup of tea but for as long as I can remember we have always had a dog or cat in the house, If the pet is looked after they give back ten fold amounts of joy and love they also contribute to peace and tranquility in the house. Congratulations on your choice of enabling a new life for the kitten you have chosen. I am now letting out a family secret it is quite likley that we are to be adoptees of Wetherby my daughter and son in law spend a lot of time away from home due to business so Wetherby spends more and more time with us, its a pleasure to look after him in his later years. |

I have vague memories of chaos, but we shall see Im sure Wetherby will be very happy sharing his home with you. |
