I can wave like the queen, Lyn.  Over here we call it the Miss America wave.  LOL.

Are you kind of a Professor 'enry 'iggins when it comes to accents, Paul?

Terry's brother speaks with a cockney like accent Lyn. He moved near London in his early twenties and now he lives in Spain. Terry thinks he betrayed his Black Country roots!!

Nice new avatar Steph.

I have an east end, cockney accent now, but when I go home to Wales within a couple of days I am talking with a strong Welsh accent again. When I took my son camping in Wales, he started moaning that we were ignoring him by talking Welsh. I did try expaining that we were talking English, but with a Welsh accent. He couldnt understand us at all It took him all week to start to understand us but then it was time to go home. Lol

By the way, I don't have an accent.  Just that flat, boring, nasally American whatever it is.  I never tire of hearing the British Isles accents.  They're much more musical and colorful.

I agree Ruth. I never tire of hearing the British accents either.  I have always imagined that the American accents are very harsh and nasally to British ears. Frown

No, that is not so, the American accent sounds great to me! they differ so much too from the New England to the deepest South. Many Brits brought up on western films when they were kids, particulalry admire the John Wayne drawl.

Interesting Ray.  I suppose that what grates on one person's ears is music to another!
