That didn't sound quite right. I meant, respect each other opinions as we have in other controversial threads without becoming argumentative. LOL!

Welcome to Nevada where we have legalized prostitution. We have five brothels in our little town, I think that's more than we have Churches.

As for voting for it, no. The prostitutes have to have monthly Doctor's visits in order to work, but it is still a high risk job, a Dr's visit is not going to stop those girls or their clients getting the STD's, it just treats them.

I've met a few of the ladies over the years, usualy very nice girls who have seen their fair share of abuse over the years and have been left with little or no self esteeme.

I certainly respect yours Diana. It's interesting that you have brought this topic up today, in the news here we have learnt that girls from Eastern bloc and Southern Asian countries make up a large percentage of the number of prostitutes in England.

It would appear that they are duped into travelling to England by people from their own countries, believing they will gain worthwhile employment in agriculture, factory work etc. only to end up in the hands of pimps who make their life hell, drug them and make them sell their bodies. The police are doing all they can to stop this apparently, however it appears it is so widespread and so well organised that their efforts are wasted. Also, the money earned goes towards buying drugs, arms and even terrorism.

It totally appalls me that this sort of thing is going on and I feel so sorry for the poor girls that end up in this terrible situation.

So, I think prostitution has no place in our society anymore, it's a service I've never used nor needed and I never will.

No, I wouldn't vote for it either. Prostitution has always been around and probably always will. But if it's legalised it gains a cloak of respectability. As Andy has said we have a big problem here with it and the major part is imported. Also, no matter how clean and disease-free the prostitutes might be under a legal regime, and even if the men who use them are not infecting their wives/girlfriends.....they (the men)  are still committing an act of betrayal and a gross one at that.

It is so sad Andy that girls are brought up with a lack of self esteem or loose it in their young years. After years of peer pressure and teasing my daughter suffers from it. I still do. It is very very sad that they end up in a life that is so dangerous. Girls who suffer from this can still end up with STD's even if not a prostitute. They hook up with a boy thinking they are in love, make a moral mistake and end up with a lifetime disease.

Thanks Rick. I think you look pretty spiffy yourself. Smile

I should add that a boy can hook up with a girl and end up in trouble too. It can work either way.

REALLY Sue? I had no idea!! Surprised

Lest anyone misunderstand me, I too think prostitution is appalling and it's BECAUSE I find it so objectionable that I think there needs to be some way of regulating it.  I don't have the answers but it just seems to me that if the bar were raised and prostitution were legalized and made more difficult for the legalization, then maybe it would "fade" out of existence.

Prostitution is morally and ethically reprehensible (I am delighted to read the views of our good men here such as Andy and Rick).  My thought was only that in legalizing it we might be able to drastically reduce the STD/Drug factor as well as the number of under aged involved.

Okay, I change the subject. LOL!

You are trying to encourage your child to read more. She suggest you pay her 2 pounds for every book she reads. Do you?
