You make a purchase at the market and the cashier gives you back more change than you are supposed to get. Do you return the extra amount?

Yes. It happened to me once and she didnt believe that she could have made a mistake. The next day she told me that I was right. Every week for 6 weeks afterwards I won the raffle. I stopped getting tickets because I thought she was just repaying me for beeing honest.

I believe it is always better to be honest Cathy, and I would return the cash.

That is exactly what I would do. I would feel guilty to keep it. My hubby would keep it. He would feel that he deserved it.

I will always be poor, because I am too honest. Shame

It's happened to me on a number of occasions and I have always returned it. I found a £10 note on the floor in Tesco and handed it in. The way I look at it is, it doesn't belong to me so it would be the same as stealing. And I would like to think if I lost some money an honest person would hand it in too.

That is the way I feel Sue. That money may mean the world to somebody or even being the only reserve to get a meal.
