And I had the best tour guide England has to offer! We traveled approximately 1800 miles from the west coast around Weston-Super-Mare to north through Northampton over to Heathrow airport and back South to the coast at Southampton. I saw what every local sees. I did see some tourist attractions such as Warwick Castle, Bowood House, Waddesdon Manor, Burnham Beeches, The New Forest, The National Motor Museum and Beaulieu Abbey,The Watercress steam railway, Cheddar Gorge, Winchester Cathedral, Avebury, Newbury Race Course, the Cotswolds, Savernake Forest, Silbury Hill, King John's Hunting Lodge at Axbridge and Lacock. I enjoyed every minute seeing how people really live in England. I cannot thank my tour guide enough. I am indebted to him for the rest of my life. I practically went to a different Pub every day. My favorite was the Bell at West Kennett along the A4 just before getting to the Devizes. I saw the Lion in Avebury as we drove by. The cottage pie at the Bell was outstanding! They were all good in their own unique way! Never had a bad meal anywhere. Fell in love with Cornish Pasties and chips!!! Still haven't tried Fish and chips yet but will on my return. All in all, I think I had a better holiday than most people ever dream of. I am truly blessed to have done so. I can't thank my POE family enough too for all your support and cheering for me. I love you all so much!! Edited by: Catherine England Schleunes at:21st April 2009 01:41 |

I hope you have a splendid time Debbie. And I hope the weather cooperates too!! A Cornish Pasty is filled with beef, potatoes, onion, carrots and turnip with some seasoning. They vary, as some the potatoes were mushy and the beef very tender and broken up while others the potatoes were in chunks and the beef was in chunks. Very tasty!! |
