We finished ours about half an hour ago, but I think we tend to eat later because of the heat!!

Yesterday I did steak and vegetables in the slow cooker and there was plenty left for tonight to warm up again.

I have an butcher shop not far from here...ran by some people with my maiden name of my dad's..getting decent meat is hard these days...it seems like the stuff they are feeding cattle on these days...they are only good for steak or hamburger for some reason. I'm always looking for an decent roast or swiss steak... if I can find one. I love my "tips and tails" also...beef tip chunks and lobster tail rounds ...good hearty sauce for the beef and butter for the lobster tails.

Good morning all. Catching up on the topic. We still have 2 butcher shops here in South Shields and I know most of the people living here do use them regularly, however, the 2 new major stores, ASDA & Morrisons, are going to be a real challenge to the butcher shop business. ASDA has been here for a couple years now, but not that many years, and they were the only major shopping in the area until about a month ago, when Morrison's moved in. One is at one end of the town and the other shop is at the other end of town. Like 2 kids playing the same game..lol....but the butcher shops have been consistently busy and don't show any signs of losing business..which is good.
