We prefer driving to Mt. Hood for the snow bit around here..rather then have it town and make driving conditions terrible. They all went up there yesterday and played in the snow an bit. Things are calming down an bit and settling in more like an season here since church services last night. I was just able to get my convented few assortment of cookies from Toll Gate Inn named after long time relatives of my mothers...and like I think of traditional cookies..docorated in vibrant colors reflective of the season...and an lovely plate to behold in colors and textures. Christmas tree with green icing and red polka dot ornaments on it, snowflake cookies outline in glittery blue icing in an pattern, mini-pecan pie cookies, huge massive brownies with chocolate icing and sprinkles, small tub of peanut brittle and two stripped candy canes. I don' tneed an lot, but enough I feel like its ...well...Christmas! I will eat them slowly and enjoy them...so as to not take this part of Christmas for granted.

When we went downtown Portland last night it had been some time since I'd been down there....and as we were clogged in an hour wait to go three blocks...I noticed how the people decorated in the houses and apartment houses along the side of the road. Neat and well kept this is off the edge to an rather wealthy area in its day with those big family houses...ones where ou look through the glass doors onto an huge wide spiraling staircase upstairs. Livingroom on one side and the library on the other side...they don't make houses like this much any more..no one could afford them. They were not decorated like in the past outside...and the smaller apartments in the area, the people had mini-lights in widows, but no tree this year. I can see the economy last night and its affects on people's budgets...though the people were happy...merry... and willing to sing Christmas carols as they went up the street amoung themsleves. this little girl in the horse drawn long carriage takes the people down the street...her eeys and her smile just says it all...her world was an wonderful one of

lights and happiness and she just quite "radiated"...God would of been pleased. We just got back from taking out the kids and grandkids thier presents..they had few of them under the tree, but my daughter in-law plans it like that..I told her one time how I did this for my son when he was little to teach him that "God's" gifts often come without the wrapping...they just "show up" when needed. My grandaughter looked at this wide spread of 36 boxes and sacks on the floor and she looked at me and gave me the "thumbs up" signal. My grandsons came over, one near his grandpa, gleaming  sat down smmiling and the other checking out the name tags... make sure he had some. They aren't fancy, mostly clothes and one game to play but I think they needed it from an tree looked pretty bare at the monment underneath. Tod them if time permitted it maybe we could go to see the "lights" at the PIR (raceway) drive through...and we'd take them out Christmas morning...just us all...for breakfast. I'd bring over an veggie tray and an salad to her sister's house and see if I can't find her something an little special also... for doing the cooking.Get back to my sister later on also...then after Christmas is the Boy Scout tree recycle and also my hubby's birthday...the night before New Year's Eve. The parties are already lining up at $170 an night with New Year's Even dancing and room to stay overnight so there's no one having to drive home. Doing it the safe way.

I was an bit surprised yesterday from the Church Services...most all day yesterday I was running into "rainbows"... real ones ahead of me as I drived down the road. One isnt' to unusual but several call your attention an bit. I was rather thinking of not only the Native Americans of whom some use to refer to me and an "rainbow warrior"..or someone that sticks up for the people in the world of all colors...and my great aunt Katherine O'Cana in ways...mainly because of the fact that I went to an "pow wow" one time in Portland and it was there it looked like it would rain during this event..and I thought of her and the Mason Lodge and my uncle being the "Shiriner" and thought of those big tents they have in the Shriner's Circus..I was thinking you know they could probably use an big tent like that right now for thier pow wow...though I doubt they could afford to rent one. That's when this rain squall came over us...and the clouds opened up to blue sky in an circle above us and the sun came through it...and all around my shoulders that I could see sitting on the bleachers was an fine misty rain with tiny rainbows...and as I looked off in the distance...three huge bands of rainbow from Washington state to Oregon state over the mightly Columbia River. It is scenes like this that are etched in my mind about the Native Americans. So last minute yesterday, I bought an "Joy" Christmas Pin for my coat to wear last night. Go there and the sermon was on "God's Light" coming through to people as true "joy" to them. The inwardly joy we expereince daily....that can only come from him. You see no matter how angry I get, and dissappointed in people...I know in my heart that "God" is not that way..here is an bit of thier opening choir song....

The cry of generations echoes in the heart of heaven....The call for God to comfort, broken lines... in isolation...send me a friend..who will embrace the very soul of me...And comprehend my broken features and still want to cherish me.

I need an savior ..who will walk the earth down here with me..And I need an Father who will tell the truth...and never leave me...send me a keeper..who will guard me safely through the night...Pray my spirit into heaven...save me from the hell of my life.

Then comes the chorus....Send the Messiah, I need his hand to hold me...Send the Messiah...Send the Messiah...Send the Messiah...I need his Love to own me...Send the Messia...Send the Messiah.
