Sk Lawson Posts: 4014 Joined: 7th Oct 2010 Location: USA | Posted at 22:56 on 8th May 2011 We went out for breakfast together for Mother's Day..I got my daughter in-law an "orchid" to wear but where we dined gave us ladies each an long stemmed red rose. I not seen so many people there for breakfast in quite an time. Haven't been in an crowd like that since our freind's owned their restruant and we would go to see them, and I'd end up helping them do the tables, so we could get the crowed down an bit and take an break to talk....that place still has an block long of people out front ...even since they've sold it. Good location and good informal seating with lots of food for the prices...country style. I feel tired since this morning now also. The anti-biotics I'm on right now is "fighting and battle" I think with my health also. Three days it's Dr, visit..next week lab tests followed by an different Dr visit..and none of this may be on health insurance...since hubby's company at Christmas time made me take out an separate policy when he went onto "medicare" benefits. Nor last week's emergency hospital visit...there goes my house renovation I guess you know...and my floors NEED changed so badly...it's been better then 15 years...we are talking worn out carpeting here. Hubby spent yesterday making "bow drills" for next weekend's Scoutcapes...south of Oregon City...Boy Scouts. So I guess it would be an good time see if my sister would like to come in and we do something. Took all my grandson's birthday presents out to him and his cake just an bit ago also. He turns 7 this wednesday. For now I'm done with the grandkid birthday's this year. Nice feeling in ways. Have one more area feature in the garden to finish off and it's done for the summer. After that comes planting an few veggies. When Linnea passed away of Cancer last week...it left her radio web domain name open on the "Fantastic Four Forum" ...an spin off talk forum from Art bell's old "coasttocoast" web site. I think he said something like he is afflicated worldwide now with 532 radio sites that carry his nightly airing. Thought I'd mention this if any of you might be lonely for something to do these days. This as even affected all the sites I go to also here lately that also spinned off from this afflifiation of Nevada as well...with the other Ham's and radio station operators.....Pretty quite over there right now also. Linn use to stop by now and then an tell us all hello more or less...seh must of been one busy gal for her health problems and all. Hope this gets resolved here soon and things return as much as possible to "normal" again...if its possible. With that I go for now..having dark bluish skies of rain going through here amid blue sky's of sunshine...typical Spring weather I guess you could say. Have an good day everyone! |

Amazing how much stuff you collect over the years. I threw out a lot of stuff before I moved but it never really hits you on how small an apartment is compared to a 5 bedroom house with a huge kitchen! An being one who loves to cook and bake means I have a nice collection of things to assist me. Hope you are doing well. I sure miss everyone. |
Sk Lawson Posts: 4014 Joined: 7th Oct 2010 Location: USA | Posted at 18:10 on 9th May 2011 Good Day everyone!......well, Diana...hope things go well for you and same for you Cathy also. Sally...Marjorie...here lately I've been doing geneaology concerning the Pope family and Burcham family over here from England...just thought you'd like to know....Sally...my friend here whose mother's side was an "Burcham"..her husband's side has an whole hospital wing named after them in plaques from chartable donations given by them to an cardiac unit they helped to build. I am understanding that her husband's side surname is now the same as the head fella of today's "Illuminating" group...in Europe...her hubby recently passed on also of heart problems...he had his for an long time though. As to the POPE family they are my hubby's kin from way back also. It's getting to be an smaller world all the time. I even ran into the Middleton family over here also with these people. Since Roland Lawson has us off the Planegent family of Royal lines...it figures. Oh yes, Cathy...it is hard to move from an 5 bedroom house into an apartment no doubt. Maybe you should rent an bigger house and re-rent two of the bedrooms out and keep three for yourself...they call it these days "house sharing" and plenty of my daughter in-law's family do it. They have fantasically big houses sitting over along the Columbia River that they "house share" with others...ususally someone they knew beforehand I know in one case at least an mother and child situation is living with them downstairs in thier three story house...that looks short of an mansion its so big. Myself...I also struggle for room to put things. Next week Portland gets to vote if they want to pass an $548 million dollar school package...which if it passes raises Portland's property taxes by 9 per cent. It won't affect those whom have an way to write off their taxes...just the middle income people will be the most affected...once again. My guess is for most of them starting with about an $20 to 25 month rate hike of not double that for the newer houses. Just can't seem to stay in thier budgets...never did...so why should they now? I think they ought to ask themselves if they could sell what they want to fix up these days to see if it's even worth fixing. Perhaps someday they will be home schooling the older kids... with class rooms in the Memorial Colesium (sp?) once to twice an week...and let the little kids have the high schools...let the big kids still have their sports games at the individual high schools though if need be. That's what our local High School does...only just the oppostie...they built the school and didn't have funds for an sports park..so they use the local community college near by...its' bigger and nicer anyway. Am...hoping for some better weather...lots to do as ususal.. so I better get doing it...Later. |
