Sk Lawson Posts: 4014 Joined: 7th Oct 2010 Location: USA | Posted at 05:20 on 20th August 2011 Bit of an joke Ron...use to belong to an ladies group...as we use to try the local restruants...as one of the ladies had an brother that had opened many of them, including many in Las Vegas. this particualar one was an new "CAjun STyle" restruant and it set in classy West Portland just South of an huge Hopsital complex...my Cardiologist has his second office there. Anyway....we went and we ordered dinner and it the hottest food I ever ate in my life...I kept ordering glasses of wine ot cool it down. I could drink back in those days you know...so we are on the way home, I'm driving down the freeway..my girlfriend and I.... and she meekly and mmildly says...What did you think of the Restruant Shirley? and I looked in my rearview mirror and I said...You know what...for "Gunpowder"... it wasn't to bad...and she burst out laughing...she says...that's what I was thinking also, it was hot you could hardly stand to eat it...and it cost to much to not eat it WE never went back there...but it was an lovely atmosphere to eat at also. My hispanicd friends (the non-drug and legal ones) tell me that any thing with cream or butter will cut out the "hot" in food...to try it the next time. I told them I could swear my glass of wine was boiling inside my mouth that day...and I was trying to be the perfect dinner guest at the same time....I felt like crawling under the table and hiding. Do you suppose the hospital there has an trama "burn unit" or something?...Just kidding. Good evening everyone...24 quarts of homemade Chili done and out of the way...one quart for at least the next 5 months weekly. It does warm you up during cold winter days...and they say cayene pepper cures the nasties. I don' thave much in mine as little kids can eat mine without fear of to much " heat". Picked up the firewood permits, 4 tages for 2 cords to start things off with. They opened up an new site near Badger lake...as long as you could stay on top maybe not to bad...but going down in the Lake area is like descending down into the cone of an volcano...liked to scared me to death...drop off on both sides into no where, we were there in an rain storm, barely got out in time for an snowstorm...driving on rock slab for an road..they put four wheels ahead of us and behind us driving out "just in case"....no way can you get me back there. Let alone to haul firewood. Straight incline straight up out form the Lake...now above it...might be another story. But as I mentioned tonight to them...the more level you got for hauling an load of wood the better in my estimation. I'm sitting quietly at the kid's house and I start hearing gun shots, that liked to scare me also...horses next door from where they live took off in an run to the barn, looked like the whole flock of 7 to 10 of them. then she tells me there's an rifle range on the other side of them. It kind of stopped the quiet country feeling I've always had out there...knowing there's deer on the other side of them, an mother and her fawn....you know.."Bambi"....not....BAM..bing..your dead! I have always known it is not uncommon for country folk to be armed...they have bear sightings occasionally I'm told from neighbors also. We took them out another kiddie pool we had stored in our garage...as it seems all the critters and their own dogs have been using the other one to drink water out of...including the deer and doggie claws put holes in plastic kiddie pools. My son was watering the grass away from their house in hopes if anything decides to visit in the night they can lick the dew off the grass. Tomarrow is blackberries. I go for now...it's been an long day and this walking every morning, it takes me resting all night long in order to do it. Ron, to many drugs....get better! Go to an local Spa someplace and let them work you over with an message to loosen you up, esp your chest and an bath of some type...with aroma therapy in it of some kind and then just "relax"!...watch an sports game or something. Sometimes that does as well as the doctor does. Talk to you all later on...tomarrow is so far.... suppose to be the hottest day this year. My granddaughter is going with her friend's over to Kaneta Hot Springs Resort, (Warm Springs Indian Reservation) they have an Olympic pool there...there's an big Golf Tournament going on here in town...lots of celebraties. Boys are swimming at their house tomarrow...just an kind of lazy Weekend. Tomarrow is my brother's birthday...though he may of taken off somewhere today. Talk later on! |

I am sorry I haven't been around but there was a shake up at my new job and I've been working insane hours. As it turns out the person who was training me just up and quit a few weeks back. That threw me out of the proverbial frying pan and into the fire! Try teaching yourself a job you don't know how to do! Lol. As it happens her departure worked out in my favor. Although I've made my share of mistakes my employers seem impressed and pleased with the way I've handled things. In fact, they offered me her position and a raise already! So, life is good...if a bit harried. I've been working 14 hour days just trying to get through the learning curve, but it's good. Things are staring to level off now. So, that's my story. Now I am going to jump into the forum to see what's been going on with everyone one else. :-) |

I have just returned from Doctor who confirms 'chest infection' and believe me it is very, very painful despite the heavy duty antibiotics and pain killers that I am taking still. If its not improved by monday, I have to report to my usual GP who will get me admitted to hospital for intravenous antibiotics, and a two or three day stay! Won't be around too much tonight/tomorrow so take care all. Nice to hear from you Diana......well done! |
