Once the PET scan is done, and if nothing more is found in the colon, then I should be starting Chemo next week. |

Sue H Posts: 8172 Joined: 29th Jun 2007 Location: USA | quotePosted at 01:05 on 12th January 2013 Finally some good news. The CT & PET scan show no evidence of cancer. The colonoscopy showed the beginnings of polyps, but not cancerous yet. Yay! Happy dance. Of course this doesn't mean there is no cancer, my CEA says different, but it means its not big enough to show up and small enough that chemo should take care of it My port was accessed for the first time today to retrieve blood. Definitely not as bad as I had been imagining. The PET scan was interesting. It took well over an hour, trying to stay completely still while they thread you through the machine. Nothing to be done when my body suddenly decided that it needed to go to the loo. It was very much 'lay back and think of England'. Chemo starts next Wednesday, 16th. The treatments will be every two weeks. I get about two and a half hours of infusion in the chemo room at the Oncologist clinic in Reno and then I will be hooked up to a pump which comes home with me, infusing meds over a 46 hour period. I can get disconnected in my home town saving me a trip to Reno. All In all this is good news indeed. Thank you again for all your thoughts, prayers, good vibes and love. |
