Sk Lawson Posts: 4014 Joined: 7th Oct 2010 Location: USA | Posted at 21:13 on 27th May 2013 I love air dried washing...but we have such weather here...I have at one time hung lines across in my garage and left the door open so they couldn't be rained on. Well, it's been an weekend of HGTV more or or less. But I've been all over the world in the process pikcing up unusual ideas. For one thing, from what they showed it must be terribly expenisve to live in London. This couple that rented an apartment that was oversized but still one bedrroom paid $3,800 an month for the thing. The one bedroom had an office study off it that they made into their son's bedroom...just barely wide enough to put his youth bed. Good thing they let her remodel as it only had half an refrigerator...and she took out the wall opening into the living room and made that an counter area where they could eat and save the table room for an bigger livingroom. Here, that kind of monthly rent would buy an extremely huge house. Best Idea I saw was in an tropic location...people had an sunken cement area that they put an table across the top of it and seats down along the side...up high enough they couldn't get wet, but they could put their feet in water as they ate there..later on the long table came off the top and could be laid at the side and it made kind of an small kiddies wading pool of an type. Near by that had an statue water fountain and off in the distance an view of the ocean...reminded one of "paradise" perhaps. But they could dress this area up for entertaining, or take it down for the kids playing...and it was inside an room...not outside...so bad weather would not have any effect on it. Weirdest idea was the house that instead of being thatched roofed..was completely bound top to bottom, except the window in artificail grass turf..dark green. The matt on it laid so the rain would run down it and off the house. It was fit into an hill side with vegetation all around it. It was several stories high and boxed shaped for the most part, with huge whitewindows in the house part...and an view room inside it. Then there was the castle ruine in Scotland...that had an new two story house that was incorproated into an runied castle of the past...they had to stablize the rock castle before they hooked it to the new house....but they were able to rebuild one top bedroom in the castle...and the runied part downstairs they left open and made into an entryway court yard affair. They old part was attached to the new part by an glass walkway that over looked the ocean also...going to the bedroom, with it's own huge fireplace and sitting area. The other part of the house was several other bedrooms for the older kids and library and media rooms and kitchen/dining area...entry livingroom. They had fireplaces and small wood stoves placed throughout the new house area also. They said it was in an windy and cold areaat times...but with the glass they had for windows to look out and the fireplaces and woodstoves and sheer size of everything it didn't make you feel pinned inside necessary on an foul day of weather. They had some kind of an shaggy-haired small herd of cow around their house also in an stoned wall area they kept watch on also...barn off to the side...unseen to protect them also. They looked to be to be an very self-suficient life stye. Well, rain returned here so am going to get going for now. Last day off and we have done very little this weekend...still feels like winter...BLA...but then listen to me gripe when it turns excessive hot also...such irony I have in my life...where is the balance? I wonder how many people are downtown Portland riding carnival rides in the rain.?...hum. Have an good day everyone. |

I just made memorial day dinner...Salmon with walnut and dried cranberries encrusted on top...green beans on one side...potato/turkey bacon with mexicorn fried all together..hash style...fresh orange slices...tarter sauce and some birthday cake of my son's...which was an white cake with raspberry filling..he must of ate the chocolate cupcakes. Next comes my birthday in June. WE went to see the kids about 2pm and met double lanes of solid cars and RV's headed back into Portland..bumper to bumper for about 10 miles. We are up to 87 lightening strikes south and east of me an over the mounains now. Dark clouds and rain in some places. Do I dare say it...when the "H" does all this go away...whomever is doing the weather calls here lately. I thought the fish was appropriate for dad...and I gave my son an steak dinner to make for his birthday the other day...said they would most likely make it today at their house.I left them with an passle of neighborhood kids over there. It is now 12 days of school left. Talk to you all later on. |
