The first house in the world to be lit by hydroelectricity was Cragside in Northumberland and it was owned by Lord William Armstrong.

The clue which gave me the answer was 'strong arms'.

I was the first house in Scotland to be built with a passenger lift, electric light, telephone and central heating.Today I am open to the public.I am a neo-gothic mansion.

I think you're right John, we were planning on a visit when we go to Scotland in June, it's Mount Stuart House on the Isle of Bute.
