The owner of the mansion believes Mount Stuart was the first home in the world to have an indoor heated swimming pool. Mount Stuart is said to contain more marble than any other house in the British Isles. The fashion designer Stella McCartney was married in the chapel there.Photos: http://www.mountstuart.com/house/ http://richardrabel.com/the-modern-sybarite/mount-stuart-the-palatial-home-in-scotland-of-the-7th-marquess-of-bute/#.UuwyCLBWFwU

Dont know when or where he was born though, or what rank he got to, but I'll go with him for now. Edited to add, then there's Alistair Maclean, the author of the excellent HMS Ulysses ?
