Posts: Joined: 1st Jan 1970 | We have those problems here also Ron, it's not our problem either...but it sits at our door just the same. I think where everyone went wrong was sustainging the earth's abilty to "live off the land"...so if you have no money, you can still live. anyway, by building your own house and growing your own food. We became or were made to any rate upon the dependency of an job that in reality doesn't pay enough for us to live. Prices are high, an product in low in comparison. Like one person said...what was considered an "good year" had to be repeated to even better the next year until everything kind of crashed in on itself. Survival is only fro an few theses days to tell the truth...most people are not going to hunt and kill thier own game to eat at dinner, there's not enough of it out on the land to find to kill these days. they keep burning down and never replanting trees also, trees take 20 years to grow to harvest lumber from them. Our homes come from trees most the time, our furniture...our warmth, and many mmore things also. Even if they grew them, people are not allowed access to get it for nothing. Government only allows 5 cords of wood an year...yes...an year...it's not enough. Parks refuse to plant eatable foods also, like blueberry's and strawberries and squash...no they plant and maintain rubbish plants in my estimation...nothing useable to the public. No apple trees along the lanes, or other fruit. Homeless people will help themselves if it's available...but it's simply not available...so they sit on the door steps of city hall for cash to buy what they need....and many times there' s not enough of it....and those barely making an wage can't afford higher taxes either. I've been spending my days here lately trying to help out this church over by me, I see now they finally figured it out that they can't feed everyone because there aren't enough stores that can give them as much as they need to do it with...and what it is when they do give them something...fresh flowers and bread......they need meat, cheese, milk, and fresh veggies/fruit. Someone really wise enough to help them also get what's needed that lasts an long time and is good nurtition.Thank God the schools are now being fed by our Government....both breakfast and lunch daily. so basically the only meal they have to worry about is dinner and snacks.Weather disasters are hurting our whole country in general also. I took my ornaments over to the Reverand and his wife today and got an grateful hug before leaving and my choice of flowers.... I picked out mini-pumpkins instead. They cut down the everyday pantry to every other week... on an Wednesday instead...I also bought them an week's rationing of food, and gave that to them also. I'll check on them later and hope they don't get so low they have to close the church doors trying to help others. They are good people.... They mean well. Dee Dee made it up here from Eugene, visting her mother until the end of the week....really tired...and she cries over my brother...said she got an thing from his mortgage company that they are slapping an lean against her, from his inabilty to pay it apparently....but if they are divorced legally...I wonder what she has to do with it. Neither does she.either. She claims she heard he's moving to "Tigard"...see what the good doctors can do for destoying everyone...I speak of the Goldbergs. At any rate, I can' tbe around anyone these days that cries...it upsets me to much and there' snothing I can do about it either. I tried to get her in an better mood, which she seemed to be when she left with her Christmas presents...but I hope her mother can get her to rest up somewhat while here. That is what I have been doing rest of the day myself....I had 6 hours sleep in one day...so I needed to catch up myself in ways. Hubby got the house drain unclogged now, but says he's pretty sure we are going to have to buy an new garbage disposal...before everything works properly again. I hear that William and Kate are going to be parents again....i tleaves me with mixed feelings...particularly on her health, but I thought when they were in Canada,,,he looked os thin in comparison of the past. I hope she stops at number four in ways. I guess they make more money then most but an lot of kids can sure do people in and I wonder why we aren't hearing that Prince Harry is going to marry and not be an batchelor all his life. I don' think he should be forgotten in the family exactly. Kind of been silent for awhile on things. Trump bought an Hotel today...so he must not be to upset over his election so far. Polls show her twice over what he is running. I still think they are the best of friends and what they are doing is bringing the country back together again despite all the things they say about each other....they are asking people to get involved, not sit there and take it. If Trump wins after all the women that have come forward and accused him of sexual misconduct, I wonder how people can accept dumping Bill Clinton with Monica in years past. I guess you can only be an "dirty ole man" if you can hide it maybe? ....see what Viagra can do for you! Kind of like 10 years ago we use to have "drug free" neighborhood....now they sell it on every corner possible. It' s made an mockery out of our police depts. The state says now it "OK" cause they canmake 40 million dollars an year of tax revenues on it. Cause people can' t pay taxes..... with no raises in pay. Not only can't people buy homes any more, they can' teven raise chickens in the backyard of most rural housing areas. But I agree, i fpeople don' tknow HOW to raise chicken properly and be clean about it...maybe they shouldn't. Its' truly mind bobbling what's going on these days all over everywhere for the most part. Ron, what's your worse problem over there...lack of money?..... Which means lack of jobs basically also. It's reflective in service/products also...retail clothing at decent pricing, ...so forth. I was reading tonight...that they clocked the average speed coming into Portland from Vancouver, Wash on the freeway at 6 mph. Yet they getout of town and go so dam fast.... they are killing each other in car accidents. Crazy. It's mildly raining here right now...and I've been up so many nights doing ornaments that I'm having an problem sleeping now. So I will have to work back into my routine again. I declared today, I'd make Thankssgiving Dinner this year...it will be an simple one. Daughter in-law sounding like she's got an cold also...so will need to take her some fresh lemons tomarrow night for lemonaide...and give her the stocking holders for this Christmas and try to cheer her up if possible also..if not also some bath salts to soak in. I think she is tired also. Maybe she will rest better. With that I go for now. Snuggle back in bed somewhat...I changed it this morning so I've got an fax.fur sheet under me and an faux fur blanket over me and can just really snuggle up in softness and warmth. So talk to you later on. Have an good evening! |

I rested some again today and didn't really get moving until after noon today. Anyway..better call it short for tonight, cause this project was left last, because it's going to take me some time doing it. An scottish ribbon stocking....with lace and pearls. So talk to you all tomarrow...can't believe this week has gone so fast either. Have an nice evening...build an cracking fire if you have an fireplace and..... enjoy your time. |
Sk Lawson Posts: 4014 Joined: 7th Oct 2010 Location: USA | quotePosted at 07:10 on 29th October 2016 I stayed up last night and finished that stocking, it had lace across the top of it, and three scottish plaid ribbons coming down it in an triangle...with an round piece of embeded pearls at th every top of it...then the outside was done in pearl and rhinstone encrusted embellishements, an dred ribbon down the center of the stoking was done with pearls on an tiny chain and bo thteh heal and the toes down heavily witn entcrusted pearls on an white flower backfround..I think i tmay of been at oen part of an wedding gown maybe. The background was an black suede material....it was simplty beautiful something looking like out of the victorian era. To add to the background I had an small bouquet of glittered round stems of some kind of flower motif also. I'm done...it's been delivered today...though I spent most the day over at Dee Dee's mother's house, talking with th eolder ladies...one whom was doing an craft project also with tissue paper...which she said after cutting it, she had to iron the little blocks before she coutld tie thme on to an wire candy cane, she did an series of red tiisue papper and then white tissue paper down the chapt of the wire candy cane, it turned out very nice, kind of had an fullness as she pushed the tissue back somewhat. I also bought some sale items for the church...50 pounds of potatoes in 10 pound sacks, 6 double sized stove top stuffing mix, four cans of big sized chicken noodle soup, 5 big cans of fruit cocktail fo rmaking with an cake an kind of cobbler dessert ...all that only came to $32...which I thought was very reasonable. Took it to the church pantry and dropped it off. I figure if I can sned over enough food to feed 15 people, I've done my thing...I've already sent over 3 large cans of baked beans and 20 little lunch packets for the kids, with turkey/ham and cheese rounds, for the crackers and an small candy bar....and I think to add some quaker oats oatmeal, and some packages of different kinds of gravy later on also. He's doing an good job of getting bread items and pastries and fresh veggies, in Califlower and squash. I also sent over there the other day 6 no bkae pumpkind dessert...so I think they are quickly reovering. They cut down their hours back to one day per weeks though. Also sent over the little kiddie Christmas stickers I don't use in my work but had to buy anyway to get the ones I did use...but they were only $1.99 for three sheets, I use only one of them.Told her maybe the stickers would look good on those clear Christmas bulbs with some red ribbon on top. But that's up to her. So, in all, it was an busy day today and I rested most th evening...I also bought my Christmas Tree ornaments for myself this year...lime green bubls, soft gold ballls, white balls, and two rolls of ribbon in an lime green check on an background of beige burlap to tie around homemade popcorn balls...and I have assorted other light glittery bulbs and beige glittery ornamants...and that will be this year's tree. I have an few other just plain green bulbs also. I'll work on this after Thanksgiving. then to add to this is nearly 20 years of collecting the LeMax Christmas Village buildings that light up an dthe tiny trees that gow with it. First time my nieghobr saw it, he came back and took pictures of it. The church is what started it you know...and you guessed it, it has that same picture of Jesus in it that the church where we were married some 50 years ago as an stained glassed window, appears in this church also. This weekend goes for Holloween coming up and installing an new garbage dissposal under my sink, but I also have to repair an pine cone wreath and small pine cone tree to go into my Native American entryway also....that should go fairly fast with an glue gun. The wreath goes above the door and the tree sits beside an collevtion of books callled "Natural Crafts for kids"...... So I am rolling right along!!!....getting it done and hope by next week to send out my two boxes to Judy and her hubby and daughter also. So I've delivered what amounts ot an room full of craft work and presents. Maybe no wI can get my craft room back downstairs? So, it's late...I best get going for now. I ate some lunch today at dinner time instead of earlier today...tomarrow is chicken with mushrooms/spinach and mozerella cheese topping melted. Talk later on...have an good weekend! |

I fell a sleep in the chair and woke up with it pitch black out saide several hours later...so I callled hm, he said he was waiting at McDonald's for the Party goer son to call him and pick him up and take him back home...should be any time now. It should be close to three hours he's been gone already. He picked th boys up to help him take in all the pop bottles...as he gives them the money...well, they split 89 dollars in bottle returns. See, I drink bottled water.... that now gets an bottle return of 5 cents. Didn't have anything planned for tonight anyway. WEnt to the Goodwill today...and ran across an real small puppy bed in new shape...so through it in my cart...very good price and went to the stuffed animals...where I picked out an gray shaggy teddy bear..with sincere eyes...and thought today's kids must have "action" toys...so went to big lots where I found an smaller "snoppy" peanuts puppy,...that when you hold his hand he walks like crazy as he's singing Christmas Carols...so I bought it with two red tea towels for blankets....and snoopy is dressed in an santa suit and hat and brought alll this home andset it up with the teddy bear holding snoooy in his lap covered up with an tea towel blanket. For some reason it's kind fo cute, you press the hand and like all little kids, it takes off walking on it's own, so you have to go an chase it down just lke an real little kids some days. It will be given to the local church I'm trying to help right now. I bought the teddy bear an stocking cap hat also to match it. But you know, shopping for all this takes time also, and was what I was doing while the guys were at the bottle return station today. Another long day of it's own. I also picked up some small pictures for my sister's wall...one has an snowflake that the center lights up in and it reads "A snowflake is like an kiss from Heaven"....and another one of an candle centerpiece and the candles in it light up also...plus the words Merry Christmas in red glitter..she already has an snowflake center wall decor piece to match all of this. Pier One Import sent us out an catalouge with all the Scottish Plaid ribbon I'm centering her Christmas tree and livingroom around. Yikes...it look slike Logan came back here with grandpa...like to scared me just an bit ago with an hug giggling. I made them an nice chicken dinner but better see if he needs some popcorn for tonight and an coke maybe. Glad they are back, it's lonely in this house with out people in it unless your in sleep mode...and we could usean fire in th firplace to help things along. So have an good evening everyone and call it an relaxing night maybe. I think we should see if the original movie of "GhostBuster's" is on the movie channel and watch it before Holloween starts with trick or treaters at the door..Kids have four days off from school. So talk to you all later on..have an good weekend!

Sk Lawson Posts: 4014 Joined: 7th Oct 2010 Location: USA | quotePosted at 06:25 on 31st October 2016 Lazy day today here..really nasty raining outside thsi morning. so we took our time getting up....then wen tout for breakfast...closer to lunch....place was filled with people...had my seniro's traditional eggs/wheat toast, sausage and egg and hashbrowns with coffee....hum..no to exciting is it, but it was good. Came back and grandson built us an toasty fire to warm up with, and then I started Judy's hubby...Harry..is little footstool, replacing the fabric on top, got that done an was downstairs in my craft room putting up an table sized Christma tree, when the guys decided to go out to my grandson's for an change oc clothes....and on thier way back pcked up am pizza for dinner...Grandson took an bath and hubby made the pizza and I was watching the movie "narnia"...one with the lion...I really don' t think of it as an Holloween type movie...but afterwards they had one on and I sneaked downstairs as this girl was screaming and something was chasing her....not for me...I'm bonifide "chicken" these days. So that done, little tree all lit up now and new propane cylinder in the heater out in my craft room. Boxes ready to be wrapped and tied and sent out this week hopefully. Majority of craft work is done....helping the church also...and that's about done for me due to limited income...and they know that....they always look me in the eye and say...Don't give us an thing...if you don't have enough to take of yourself...Do you have enough to eat? I said yes, the potatoes were on sale $1.69 an 10 pound bag, he said do you have some?...I said unfortuneately "yes".... and they aren't on my diet..... I'm suppose to only eat sweet potatoes....and sparingly at that....all that for giving them 6 bags of potatoes. All that for an $10,14 cent donation. But good people they are..told you that before. Anyway....I came back upstairs after the girl was screaming...and asked my grandson if she got caught...and he said no, but I didn't watch it either...I'm doing games on your new telephone. He was helping me at the restruarant learn how to access things and turn it on and off. Clever..he knows all the little quickie things to do..if I could remember them all now. I asked the store clerk one time....they don't come with instructions on how to run them so how you find out what to do..she said...find an teenager...they can show you. My kids get up at 4 am and there after all of them to go to work and school...so by 9 pm...grandson is in bed...on his own. I took an bath...and I'm use to being up all night here lately doing craft work...but I'm relaxed and thinking about sleeping at least...maybe after another cup of sleepy time tea? Yawns...talk to you all later...since your a day ahead of me, hope your Holloween was an good one, ours is tomarrow night...picked up the receipe for the cresent roll mummies to eat, and will have nacho's with olive eyes staring back and pick up some cupcakes tomarrow..simple this year. With all the kids older now I think if we had 10 kids we were doing good last year....and how I remember those days when we'd have an couple hundred back when there were 27 kids in 8 houses around me. It was at times over-whelming...but always enjoyed the costumes we'd see. I hear my son and daughter in-law checked out the "Dark Shadows" place the other night...spook house...I asked my grandson how it went....well, he says...they threw mom in an refrigerator box...but dad helped her get out... How nice I thought...they have their mom for another year....laughs*...good they get out once and awhile also... So with that I go for tonight.... Have an good one! |
Sk Lawson Posts: 4014 Joined: 7th Oct 2010 Location: USA | quotePosted at 05:20 on 2nd November 2016 Well, gosh...just all kinds of crazy weird frequencies tonight I am hearing. All kinds of bad health reports coming in also and I wonder where are these doctors that like to charge such high fee's to tak ecare of them in the first place, that was one of Obabma's health requirements for his health insurance, people had to produce results of care getting better...o rhe could pull hteir docotr's liscence or not pay them for services rendered. I gave my daughter in-law the kid's Christmas present today....sounds like enough money for an TV set for theri room as there's is on the fritz. I hope they can get an good dela on "Black Friday" so they have soem money left over to clelebrate Christmas...cause I can' t help them any more. I gave her $500 this morning. that's it for this year. one with Christmas....and back into my own house again. Tomarrow I go and dropp off the things for my sister's apartmentthat I've been buying her at thrift shops...like table cloth/decorations. We had 24 trick or treaters the other night...not very many...but more then last year. Last year I think we had all of 4 kids. So goes with not having little kids in this area any more I guess. But 24 is very reasonable in ways also. So those decorations were taken down today. Tweeking up the house for Thanksgiving dinner....so I hung my "new"picture over my dining lounge with the black office chairs....an picture of the Brooklyn Bridge and the New York city lights at night. Makes me feel like I should have an cocktail of some kind. Hubby just got home from Scout meeting tonight, and I have to get up early to go and see my sister tomarrow with an car full of things for her....Dee Dee...did not go back to Eugene the other day...she's still at her mother's house and hope she gets better...she came up here with an cold and while there she was complaining of an headache. She said she pretty well rested most of today...that's an good sign. So I go for tonight I guess...have an good evening everyone! |
Sk Lawson Posts: 4014 Joined: 7th Oct 2010 Location: USA | quotePosted at 06:28 on 3rd November 2016 Good evening...the cubs just wone the world series in baseball..first time in many years...bet they are celebrating. Woke up early this morning..was really feeling lousy, and we had an 3.8 quake 7 miles deep about 10 miles off in the ocean near Astoria/Warrentron. Little south of the Columbia River and it was in an very unusual place...I figure thelow pressure center going north with an storm probably triggered it. But an bit to many small qakes taking place off shore Oregon..... rather close these days. Got over my sister's house and spent from about 9:30 to little after one decorating and cleaning her front living room for Christmas...all she has to do now is set up her tree. But I came home feeling like someone had kicked me in my shin bone on my leg, that was bothering me, and just feeling immensley tired for some reason. So I made dinner and fell alseep on the sofa....when I woke back up did an bit of decorating around my house.....and probably some more tomarrow, though I just got to get with it in getting these boxes wrapped up and sent out in the mail also. Guess I see how much I get done tomarrow. Rain coming in now....so will head to bed and rest some more. Talk later on. |
Sk Lawson Posts: 4014 Joined: 7th Oct 2010 Location: USA | quotePosted at 21:33 on 4th November 2016 Got off to an bad start today..went to Peir one Imports and did't notice teh thing I was about to buy had an votive cup in it, well, it got broke...well, she gave me another one, and said it happens now and then, I told I never noticed the cup when I picked it up...she was nice. It was expenisve.I'm taking some time out right now...simply to tired and my legs hurt right now like I've done an Marathon run or some such. Time ti sit it out an bit. But I'm done in my house for right now and Thanksgiving Dinner....I understand Sheri...pther grandma in the group made it to the emergency hospital to be told sh ehas pneumonia. Hope she makes it to our Thanksgiving Dinner this year. Over cast day today, but sunny in spots....then comes the rain....some 2.34 inches for over at the coast and over an inch they claim is coming here to our area. Sometimes they tell it like it is and sometimes it's nver like we have been told for the weather. My granddaughter doesn't answer her cell phone like an good girl while driving...she doesn' t want and traffic ticket for $500....but I informed her....in case of an emergency pick her cell and dial 911 anyway....shouldn' t emergencys be excempt from regular chit chat type phone calls?....I think so. I have not voted as yet..because all the cleaning and setting things up I'm doing, so now if I vote...I have to take it to the Library to be sent in...we have done that before though..no real problem. Just about every incoming call here at the house the last day or so is messages from people telling us how to vote though. Everything in teh mail has been cards from candidates running for some kind of position also. Be gald when it's all over. I guess I go now...so how old are ya Ron?...or are you doing the Paleo diet that seems to make people younger then they are by 20 years according to this doctor who wrote an article about it. Called "The power of an Paleo Lifestyle...age Reversal" by Dr. Kelly Ann Petrucci. She claims there are 80 year olds look like ...they are 65 and feel like they are 40....,and it keeps going down by age to feeling like your half your age....and they say because the diet is natural and clean...it's low in sugar, it's low in toxins and artifical chemicals...and at the same time rich in antioxidants, it removes hormone disruptions, because it's low in carbs, it prevents insulin resisitance, the excerise you do is natural for your body...mostly walking at your leisure...and it's de-toxing and de-stressing...the newest research say s it also reverses Dementia. Paelo also promotes the use of natural products, not only in your body, but also in your home, as well as the diet itself. You know Ron, it's like going back to how we lived in our youth growing up to me....when you went out to your garden an picked out what you were going to eat as an kid fro dinner. You rmeat was all grass fed also.2 Tablespoons of Honey is your sugar..if not maple syrup. It's mosst often used in cooking also. Something to think about trying to see if it would help you witht your health problems...if not get rid of them. Happy "B-Day" just the same. I go for now, just sitting here typing... my legs stopped hurting me. But I've gotten an LOT done this last several weeks also...so guess it's worth it..... to relax when it gets closer to Christmas and actually enjoy the season. Talk to everyone later on. |
