Yes, Marianne, your shots are amazing.  I'm glad you like it over here. It's a different kind of beauty than England, but beauty nevertheless.

Sue, I sometimes find places on Google Earth (not Google Street Maps) it is quite interesting,  I typed in Nevada Desert but I could not find a town, I have been through the Judean Desert and am wondering if they are similar. I would love to see pictures of your second homeland, what a contrast it must be from Wheatley.

This is for you Peg.

I took the first three photos about 17 years ago (when I first got here) with an old fashioned camera, so the quality is not good. We are surrounded by mountains (not big ones like the Rockies) on all three sides, and behind those mountains, mile upon mile of desert.

We have sand dunes around here too (will have to go out with camera next week), constantly shifting. But most of our desert is sage brush. No cactus, they start further south.

Sue I had just e mailed you before I saw these pictures and they do give a better view of the desert, I was concentrating on your town, Reno, and Elko, which are very nice but I would not like to have to keep travelling through the desert.

Thank you so much for the pictures I must have missed them.
