I've just got back from a wonderful concert of Loreena McKennitt. She makes Celtic like music, perhaps you've heard about her too?

I love Loreena McKennitt! I have several of her albums. Was the concert good?

Dear Antie Buttcheeks,

Thisis my problem. I am in love with a woman who lives on the 3rd floor of an apartment, with a balcony. I want to serenade her but I find I get vertigo climbing 75 feet up a ricketty ladder with a guitar in one hand, a bunch of flowers in the other, and a plectrum clasped between my teeth.

The question is, do I continue with my plan, risking life and limb, or do I buy a suitable CD and play it from the ground through a megaphone. Will doing that have the same impact and win my true love's heart?

Yours in anticipation,

Ray.

I think I have just answered my own question. Nothing can beat the impact of a body falling from 75 feet. That is IMPACT!

A very good one, Sue. As you know, she's got a superb voice!  The concert took place in a typical medieval looking square, which matched her kind of music very well. I had some hard time in recognizing at least half of the instruments on the stage; some of them are pretty unsual but Google's been helping.

Lyn, she's a canadian singer. This is her official website.

Ray, cellotape the flowers to the guitar and put the plectrum in your pocket. This will give you one hand free for climbing. I did the very same thing myself back in 1980 when trying to win the affections of a lady I was rather fond of. Sorry Miya, I couldn't help Buttcheeking in.

Hi Andy

thank you for your prompt and useful response to my problem. I am sure Miya is carefully researching her answer and I will receive it in the fullness of time.

Your suggestion seems a good one, the trouble is, how do I get all these things in the right place once I reach the top of the ladder so as to seranade this lovely lady. I have to let go at some stage, then, Whoops, the impact again! How about if I had firemen with a big blanket or trampoline type thingy I could fall into? Although I would probably miss the target anyway.

Can you still play a guitar and sing whilst falling at 32 feet per second?

Ray

That looks like a great website Mari. The setting too sounds magical. I will have a look at identifying some of the instruments later.
