Berkshire is pronouced Barkshire for the same reason clerk is pronounced , clark. There's a Bershire accent too, and the Wiltshire one can be tricky to understand so of the older folk there.Marlborugh comes out as Mulbrrrrrr..... My favourite: Pictures \| Towns \| Attractions
