Ramblers dilemma The yellow sign on the left indicates there is a bull in the field. The sign in the middle of the gate indicates a footpath. The second from the right says Stock grazing keep dogs on a lead' and the one far right. Please close the gate. Personally don't think I would open the gate! Bridge House Ambleside Bridge house, the smallest property in Ambleside, over Stock beck and alongside Rydal Road. 300 years old, originally an apple store has been home to a family with 6 children. Built over the beck to avoid taxes and now owned by the National Trust. Quite possibly one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District. Heron, Ambleside Just walking through the village one morning when something caught my eye. This chap was motioless underneath the bridge to the main carpark in Ambleside. Very busy and noisy at this early part of the day but he was quite happy.
