Last of the Summer Blooms A still beautiful but fading foxglove on route to High Sweden Bridge. A couple of months ago this would have been one of thousands along the road side each with dozens of vivid blooms. A definite sign that summer is coming to a close. The Golden Rule Ambleside Rear entrance to the best pub in Ambleside. Front and interior to follow later. No music, No TV, No gambling machines, well one very old one hidden in the back room. Just good old fashioned chat, about anything and everything, and you can actually hear what is being said! The Old Mill Tea Rooms Ambleside Just what it says on the wall...The Old Mill Tea Rooms alongside the lower reaches of Stock Ghyll. Also known as The Giggling Goose. Never tried it as Tea Rooms are not really my cup of tea...excuse the pun. Ambleside Market Cross Known as the Market Square, although the market for what it is, is held in a car park at the other end of the village. Saturday 8-9-12 a very odd day. Very warm and sunny but incredibly hazy hence no real shadows. Security a year on. Saturday 8-9-12 18.30pm (ish) Similar shot to one I took a year or so ago and I'll swear the latch has not moved an inch. Rainbow over Ambleside Tuesday 11-9-12 wet and dry at amazingly short regular intervals!!! Waterproof jacket was on and off every 20 minutes for a couple of hours then stayed on for several hours!!! Up on Loughrigg above Ambleside this rainbow appeared in one of the breaks in the rain. Managed a couple of quick shots. Ambleside Lake Cruise Friday 14-9-12 was a very wet day but I had to get out so took the boat down to Bowness and on to Lakeside followed by the train to Haverthwaite spent an hour there and returned. A few minutes after the steamer Teal had left Lakeside for Bowness this rainbow appeared very faint then brightened only for a couple of seconds.....magical! Pays to be ready even in the wet.....other folk missed it 'cos their cameras were cosseted in bags and things.....
