Thanks for explaining what the "lake effect snow" is Rob.  Not something I think I want to experience!  I'll stick to too much sunshine, thank you.Smile

Somehow, Cathy, I don't think lake effect snow will be on your worry list in South Africa! Perhaps more no-lake effect heat and drought! Laughing

Hi Rob...plans are still up in the air. Really need to get busy making some!

I hope you're able to go to the UK this year, Krissy--believe me, you would never regret it!

Lol! Rob.

So far this season we are having fairly good rains in our part of the country, but other areas are suffering more from the "no lake effect"

Myself, I love snow and I don't even mind driving in it. There are few things better than taking a walk through the woods while its snowing--everything seems so peaceful and silent. And the snow makes it a lot easier to observe the deer.

I have to agree with you on that one Rob. Even the Deer around Wheatley are suddenly very visible!

And probably hungry, too, Ron! A few deer are starting to "graze" at our bird feeders in the early evening!

I love snow too, Krissy, but only in December.  I'm not fond of it AT ALL once Christmas is over.

Our weather's been picture perfect the last 3 days, cloudless skies and it was 82 degrees F on Sunday, 80 yesterday and we had a bit of a cool down to 78 today.  That's running about 10 to 15 degrees above normal for this time of year.  But we expect a little rain tomorrow night and Thursday.

Remember the hail storm I posted the video of on page 8 of this thread?  Well, it turned out we did have roof damage after all at our house, so homeowners insurance adjuster came out and we'll be getting a new roof.

Yes, the luxury of being able to take a walk through the woods in the snow would be nice.  But try commuting to work (when your commute is already over an hour under good conditions) in DC when it's snowing.  Nightmare!

Rob, am a transplant from SE Wisc to NE England and weather has been better but there have been a few winters here that came close to winter in Wisc or Michigan. I miss that sometimes but never miss driving in it. Used to have to be to work at 6:30 am and that was one of the challenges of living in the midwest...back then. As young children we loved it cuz it meant NO SCHOOL...YEAHHH...lol...but at this point in life it means ...hmmm...do we REALLY need to go out LOL....interesting how weather can age us !
