Not as bad as 1963 yet Sue but the way things are going it won't be long. In fact the snow stopped last night at about 20:00 hrs as predicted. Today in Wheatley it is cold, with light winds and probably still just freezing.

More snow and ice forecast later.

And Beth I know exactly what you mean. However, it is a fact that a lot of road users today have no idea what it's like to drive on snow and ice. In my day nearly everybody had snow chains fitted. Do anybody else remember them?

I remember 1963 but I was a kid then so it was fun then, not so much fun now though. Biggest problem is as you stated Ron most of the 'drivers' now have absolutely zero clue of how to drive in foul weather but still drive as though it's a sunny day.

Too close, too fast and no braking until the last second then wondering why they end up in the ditch, off the road, into a fence and the myriad of other places cars were never designed to go. I term them 'The Incompetents' as I've had years of watching the antics and having to put them to rights, just so that they can do it all over again as they never learn but blame everything else but themselves.

The wife works for the emergency services and spent all day yesterday with these same incompetents telling them not to go out unless it was an emergency only for them to argue that they needed to be somewhere or pick up someone. The end result was that she said 'Well I've told you the problem you make up your own mind, your adult enough' because as she said to me afterwards ' They just don't want to listen to advice they only want to rant'. Just about sums it up I think about the public..

Our weather today, in South Shields, is balmy sea breezes, sunny skies, birds chirping in the trees...children playing in the park, people swimming in the sea....OH WAIT....you wanted reality....wellllll....

Cold, snow, little sunshine, not a bird in sight, people bundled in warm clothing and still feeling cold....yep...that's the weather today...

Hope your's is better...lol....

Hi Andrew...totally agree with you and yes we owe a lot to the dedicated staff who man the emergency services as does your wife. That's two 'Ambi' drivers (paramedics) we know about here in the POE forum (Jason T being the other of course).

Andrew why not go to 'User Introductions' (Tell us about yourself) where you will get the usual POE welcome from the members?

Oh, and by the way welcome to POE from Anna and Ron. We are in Wheatley, Oxford.....neighbours?

We are having a wee bit of thaw here and the rooftops are dumping their snow onto the walkways , which complicates things at this level...lol....Temps are frigid cold but the sun is shining brightly and it';s dry. What more can we expect at this time of year !

Really cold winds here today. Although temperature reached 2c it felt like the worse day so far.
