We are expecting heavy snowfall throughout the UK from tonight onwards, although according to the News and Weather information Oxford may not be hit too hard!

Well it certainly isn't funny here in Wheatley, Oxford. We have had 7 inches of snow since 09:00 hrs today and it is forecast to keep falling until about 20:00 hrs tonight!

So the weather forecast was right for once!

Hey Ron, when you can show me a picture of Old Road looking like this (pictures below) again, then I'll fly right over and re-live it.

Old Road, Wheatley, Oxfordshire, England.   January 21st 1963

You can just see me or my brother at the very back of the picture outside our garden gate.

As for desert Nevada, we are about half a foot or more in snow right now.

More then 7 inches of snow and more to come, according to the forecast. Maybe a white christmas? Thats very rare overhere.

Our modern society is not geared for this extreme kind of weather. All public transport is almost stopped. No trains, plains or busses.

At this point this morning, we have a light dusting of snow but temps that will allow it to stay. We are due for less snow and more ice with frigid temps up here in northeast...so will get challenging for walking, let alone driving. We used to say things like : Get the women and children off the sidewalks...lol....as we watched those new drivers trying to make their way down the roads.

We used to have this game where we would watch drivers and grade them in 1 of 3 categories....(1)  New drivers...anything goes   (2) Experienced drivers....those who drove with caution and (3) Fools...those who drove forward at any speed and ended up on sidewalks, in a roadway ditch, or caused everyone else on the road to move over and let them by...and wish them well  LOL.....

Because Wisconsin has such wicked winters, those of us who got our driver's license during our senior school years, we were allowed to drive on that license during spring-fall BUT we had to do an on-the-road driving test in the winter months so we could show how we would drive in the winter months as snow was inevitable in Wisconsin as well as neighbouring states. Was a good idea then, altho, as I was a teen then, I thought it was unfair LOL....typical teen attitude ...am glad I can drive in rough winter months tho...thanks to my teachers for that...gave my parents white hair during those years tho lol...
