I hear a Whitehall transcript of this forum was inadvertently handed to Gordon Brown for Prime Minister's Question Time. When asked by backbencher Ron Brind ( MP for Lewis, Central  & South ) what the PM thought of the state of the country today, Mr Brown scanned his papers and had to finally admit, " I haven't a clue what's going on anymore".

the OP originally asked what I might like about England? Well, when I've visited the Tower of London, they've always let me out in one piece.Unfortunately, the last time I mailed a post card from there and accidentally stuck the stamp on upsidedown, I was promptly charged with treason. At least the good news is if the axeman misses on the first try, I can put in a compensation claim for industrial injury. The Queens Council had advised me to marry an accountant quick.  I said, Why, will it make me live longer?  No, but it will feel like it!

Lucky you didn't tear the stamp in two and decapitate the Queen, which is what i've done more than once in my job, you get beheaded for that! LOL

Looks like being a post office worker in King Henry VIII's time could have been considered an extremely high risk occupation, and their anual bonus was simply that they were still safely employed.  That's another thing I like about England; over the centuries, some things just never seem to change.
