He was cantankerous, stubborn and illiterate, but wouldn't admit it, nor do anything about it. As Matt Dillon's Deputy, he could be amusing. Had he been put in charge of Dodge City, he could have been a disaster for the people living there. Had he found himself running a whole country--or a large department within it-- it doesn't bare thinking about; a rather frightening prospect. Reference to Peter's earlier comment, which gets repeated in mine ( Festus giving the folk of Dodge City numbers instead of names), I think Festus is alive and well but switched his cowboy hat for assorted other ones over the decades. I think we all know a Festus Hagen or two--though not necessarily by that name! Happy Trails, Ruth |

Wow, Lyn and Sue, how long have you had old westerns on over there? We didn't see too much American TV over there, so I didn't think there was too much American stuff on. |

The local baker took out a fresh batch of bread about the same time as we came out of the cinema, so that's what our money went on. Can't beat a fresh loaf!

They were included in the price to get in to the cinema. The bag of sweets and a choice of apple or orange were all on a table in the foyee. Mum didnt give us extra money to spend, but then we didnt need it. |
