Sorry I don't keep up to date very well, I'm finding it difficult to get any time on here lately, work and all that, you know! Anyway, today at the canal, Melbourne, I saw the following....four swallows (very low numbers, has anyone noticed?), two curlew, five shelduck, robins, great tits and blue tits, a tree creeper (I took the worst picture of it, but I tried) and a male cuckoo. It was odd, because the cuckoo was silent but happened to fly down from a tree in front of me, then up into another (picture of him in 'I predict' in forum). So all in all, a very good day!!

We have missed you Andy. I'm glad you're back, and with a picture of a Cuckoo to boot. Great work!

Nice to see you back Andy, and well done getting the great shot of the Cuckoo. Pictures like that really make me want to upgrade from my compact, which is pretty much useless for photographing birds.

It's great to be back!! I've just got home after a trip to Cumbernauld, Scotland. It's a pity I had to rush back, the weather was beautiful and I was tempted to stop along the A66 and take some pictures, but as usual my phone rang for another job, so that was that!!  I'll get a closer shot of the cuckoo if I can, there's always a pair of them along the canal. If the weathers' nice this weekend I'll go back for a look. Still, it's not all bad news, I'm looking forward to having the lovely haggis I bought whilst I was over the border, does anyone else like it?

Whoop! Forgot the birds......a few buzzards, plenty of carrion crows and ravens. They're the only ones I noticed, it's hard to see the little birds when I'm travelling at 70mph!!

Yeah, I'm with you on the haggis Andy, love it, and a few wee drams to wash it down!
