That Mistle thrush Andy, I said it looked like a Sparrow, but I was told, no, it's a Mistle thrush. Glad you cleared it up for me. I will now go and edit it to read Sparrow. Thanks.

The only difference that I could see Lyn, Is that this bird was a bit bigger than the normal sparrow. And it had a light fawn colour chest and belly. It also seemed to have a stripey front. I didnt get to see it very close though. It did land and was definately bigger than the sparrows close by.

Oh well, we live and learn. Hopefully. He he he.

I was down south today, I even passed through Oxfordshire (not close to Wheatley though) and whilst enjoying the delights of the M40 I saw a pair of red kites....one was circling in the breeze to the south of the motorway, the other was right over the road where the embankment is built up and fairly rocky. It was easy to tell what they were because of their V tails, just a great sight. I'll bet thousands of motorists drove past without batting an eyelid. To think this species was so rare 20 years ago or so, now they seem to be thriving everywhere. Nothing else of note to report.
