Peter Evans Posts: 3863 Joined: 20th Aug 2006 Location: UK | Posted at 15:16 on 9th May 2008 The only difference that I could see Lyn, Is that this bird was a bit bigger than the normal sparrow. And it had a light fawn colour chest and belly. It also seemed to have a stripey front. I didnt get to see it very close though. It did land and was definately bigger than the sparrows close by. Oh well, we live and learn. Hopefully. He he he. |

Andy Edwards Posts: 1900 Joined: 14th Mar 2008 Location: UK | Posted at 17:12 on 9th May 2008 I was down south today, I even passed through Oxfordshire (not close to Wheatley though) and whilst enjoying the delights of the M40 I saw a pair of red kites....one was circling in the breeze to the south of the motorway, the other was right over the road where the embankment is built up and fairly rocky. It was easy to tell what they were because of their V tails, just a great sight. I'll bet thousands of motorists drove past without batting an eyelid. To think this species was so rare 20 years ago or so, now they seem to be thriving everywhere. Nothing else of note to report. |
