I've been thinking about Peter Evans. I know his health has been rocky for a long time, and just wonder how he is doing. Maybe that means I should send him a note via Contacts. |

You really need to get up there and see the flowers. After some very good rains this season the flowers were stunning. We didn't even have to travel far because the West Coast National Park was ablaze with flowers and that is an easy day trip from Cape Town. You can't believe the acres and acres of wild daisies stretching away into the distance. |

I have just over 550 but sadly I cannot share them with you all on POE because, although the Cape reminds me of England very much, it is not England so the pictures don't qualify. Maybe we should start a website for pictures of SA? The architecture around the coast from Fishoek to Simonstown is very like some of the coastal villiages in southern England and of course the weather is very similar. It can change from fine to rainy and back to fine in an hour. If anyone is interested in my pictures of the Cape I have posted several on flickr. |

I admit it was a while ago that I saw him there, and I don't use FB (can't understand it and don't have the time to mess with it) but you would think he would just pop in to say hello to the POE members now and again.

Syd, I recently went on vacation to San Francisco, and I posted some of my pictures to a site called Photobucket and then put the link on a thread here. Maybe you could do the same. I love spring wildflowers. Is Namaqualand a desert area? I live in the desert, so after a wet winter, there's truly nothing like the Persian rug effect of spring wildflowers in the desert |

When the rains comes in late winter the daisy seeds wake up and sprout magnificently. The better the rains, the better the flowers. I will see if I can figure out how to put a link here. |

Actually it wasn't difficult at all. Try that Ruth and see if you can view my set called Cape holiday 2011. The semi desert area is north of Cape Town and starts about 50 miles from there stretching from the Atlantic coast inland for a couple of hundred miles before reaching the mountains. The other side of the mountains is green and lush. Syd I have made the link clickable so that anyone clicking on it will go directly to your pics in another window!! Otherwise you will have to use your photostream URL, you could add that as a link to your website in the profile page. You are right the flowers were absolutely out of this world amazing! |
