Hello everyone,

Sorry to hear you're not well Peter. Hope things get better for you soon.

I haven't been around lately because my dear wife has been under the weather since last week Wednesday. As a result I've been running the home, feeding dogs and horses, cleaning stables and carting her to and from clinics while still trying to put in an appearance at the office.Hectic times.

I'm pleased that she's almost back to normal now having had to have an infusion of haemaglobin which took took 8 hours in a clinic.

Thank goodness its the weekend and I can catch up on some sleep.

Cheers all

I'm still around, James, thanks for asking.  I've been super busy at work and then exhausted in the evening.  I'm so bummed out that I missed Peter.  I miss you a lot, Peter and hope things are looking up for you.  Sorry to hear about your wife's illness, Syd.  Hope she's doing better too.

Hello, everyone. So nice to be back. And, Peter, I'm sorry to hear you've been ill and all of your house and car problems. My goodness, such a lot all at once, isn't it? Hopefully everything will be on the mend, including you.

I think Shirley mentioned the hurricane troubles in mine and Krissy's area. Here we were evacuated a total of four times from our homes between August and September. The August ones were the result of the hurricanes and the creek flooding, but the one in September was from the Susquehanna River going 20 feet over flood stage, the highest ever. I live about one mile from the river. A new levee system was installed, but had never been tested at this amount of water. Back in 1972, before the levee, the river crested at 42 feet and flooded the entire area where I live and more. The dike on the west side of the river broke and flooded that side. All our things were moved upstairs and off we went. The river went 2 feet higher than in 1972, but the levee held. Unfortunately, the towns north and south didn't fare as well. Tremendous damage to homes, roads, bridges. People lost everything. A very scary time.

I should be back on POE again now that things have calmed down. I also had an allergic reaction to something and was covered in spots for over two weeks! Still haven't quite figured out what it was, but two rounds of medicine later it's finally better. And now that it's past October 1st, I'm counting down to my next trip to England in fall of next year. I can't wait to be back.

Hi Brenda.  I'm happy to hear that your home was spared.  I was living in Scranton in 1972 and spent a lot of time in Wilkes Barre helping with cleanup.  My friend Clare lived there at the time and ended up with 5 feet of water in her second floor, and the house was under water for about 3 days.

As for your allergy, did they check you out for a mold infection?  You almost can't escape mold after one of those big floods.  Well, anyway, hope all goes well from here on.  Take care and God bless.
