Sk Lawson Posts: 4014 Joined: 7th Oct 2010 Location: USA | Posted at 21:46 on 18th October 2011 Good Luck Cathyml...know what it's like moving....and try living in an four bedroom house, made into five with the garage with four adults, three kids, two labrador dogs, two cats, two cages of birds and one tank of fish that took up half my bathroom counter downstairs. They moved out, but we are still holding most of thier things in our garage, our camper, our trailer, and two sheds out back. WE couldn't get his ATV in the shed and it with one of the kid's, plus some bikes got stollen one night...expenisve! We keep as much as we can locked. But most of this stuff isn't worth all that much, much of it's seasonal decorations/sports items and clothing..kids toys...I'm taking another load of it to the Goodwill tomarrow hopefully before I start defrosting an freezer. I just split it up between my kids, brother and sister..and what room I had left here. OK guys!!!....you whom imbibe in Grouse and whatever...are you responsible for this in our newspaper over here under "weird news" A beached whale turned up in England, which isn't all that strange...but this one turned up 1/2 mile inland and it fueled alein abduction theories, how did it get so far inland in an "marshy" area? Experts are saying even with high tide or an storm this would be impossible for it to show up so far inland. The whole thing just screams X-files". Isn't it enough for them to be abducting humans these days? We think there must be some kind of an cover-up going on here. OK...guys come clean...Ron, James, Shaun, James, Vince and whomever else you grouse drinkers inititated into your club....how you guys get that whale 1/2 mile insland..and don't tell me it was using your little red rented row boat..LOL! They probably had some spare time on their hands from Cahtyml moving no doubt...and I can hear them now saying...Who..me?...I didn't do it...smiles* |

You can't trust them for their word. I am showing two icons separate one for his computer and one for my lap top...which is what the "Geeks" told me they thought has been my computer problems...or man of them..he needs the new computer unit...in the meantime I was able to over ride it to get in here. |
Sk Lawson Posts: 4014 Joined: 7th Oct 2010 Location: USA | Posted at 04:27 on 19th October 2011 I was coming back in to tell you of an good read I think...by Pat Buchanan...maybe you have heard of it...."Sucide of an Super power" meaning the US....but what he says also has in it...cover many global problems also...and more importantly how to solve an few of them. I was thinking of cathyml talking about 2 bedroom apartments...and I can only think of one situation where it worked out and each bedroom was 20 by 25 feet. My friend built her own house. Then again if your wanting to snuggle an bit with someone special maybe an 2 bedroom with an good sized room and fireplace might be OK up in the moutnains. As long as the walls were thick enough to discourage wild animals. Now a days...single people are buying up small three bedroom homes...master for them, one for an computer office-library and an spare bedroom. What was it Shirley McClain called them..and small "sublet" near the city....easy to take care of if you travel an lot. We lived in several 2 bedroom houses..rented them...even our 3 bedroom house...livable...not really... when everyone is here with us.I had to have all day parties at Christmas to space out the 75 guests...and think of alternatives for them at times also. but that was back then. I had plans for an "ship captains" house one time that I adored...it had an third story kind of alcove..kind of like my grandfathers house before it burnt down...and in the kitchen an farmer's type kitchen..off to one side an small sitting area and in the kitchen, and small fireplace for baking bread or cooking in...or if one wanted... just an small fireplace to keep the kitchen warmed up in the winter time. My freind had that in her house also...and huge huge wall fireplace that took four foot logs to burn. Seh built an 30 by 60 foot combination livingroom and dinning room....and was often out of electricity where she lived in the winter...all her rooms heated themsevles with wood or such. She never put up "cupboards" in her kitchen either...just shelves lined with crock pots and spice racks. Her dishes stacked on the counter...and her cups hun from under the shelves. She had herbsals an plants where she had this huge window over her sink. Old traditional ideas with an modern look by the time she got down. She was so interesting to talk to you know...because she did much of this stuff with her hubby's help. She was often having to find innovative ways of doing things. Like her fireplace...no one made an fireplace box that big...ehy had to make thier own. She used an small pickup truck box. Had it weilded into the framing...and they cemented it in themselves and laid the rock, after going to the local mountains out here to gather the rocks. her quilts...seh had him put in hanging rods on the wall up higher then usual....and could open them up an bit to hang them so you could see the patterns. The rodswere massive ones...decorated on the ends. She put family pictures and book cases here an there above them. They were the backdrop to her dining room. It had an table with 12 chairs and then her kitchen had an smaller one with six more chairs...next to an small woodstove. Rocking chair. Seh had an porch facing her yard side...covered...she was telling me that the first bigfoot siting was not to far away from the house there, about 5 miles away..she kept her dogs enclosed in the porch area, where they could "bark" all they wanted to an it didn't overly bother them inside. Seh made an curved wall coiming into the house....and an table sightly below it and it was their office in this livingroom/dining room area...she could see over the wall just slightly. On the other side of the wall was her library. They read an lot. She had two sofa's across from each other..and several chairs in front of the fireplace and on the end of the sofa's and you could swivel them the other way to see the TV set. Lotsof floor space to do whatever you wanted...build toys, do excerises, make quilts, or read, or watch tv...all together and one person never really bothered the other one in doing it. Wasn't so big an room it was kind of distant and lonely feeling either. She had an great mind, was thoughtful and inquistive and we could "laugh" at life. I never tired of going to see her. We only saw each other mostly in the spring/ summer, but we wrote back an forth also..she traveled considerably. They announced tonight they are raising postal stamps to 42 cents. Post cards may come back after all at those rates. I best get going. Scouts tonight, scouts tomarrow night. Go watch "Dancing with the Stars" I guess.I can see why my friend had her two daughters to keep her company.Good thing they have computers these days...though most people want to fight over issues that are not good one to begin with at times. We have an manmade space object fly by tonight and tomarrow and then it's suppose to come down somewhere Sunday...with an give or take 12 hour window....but they don't know where as of yet.
