Ron I am so sorry to hear that things are not looking good for Anna's dad. My thoughts and prayers are with you both at this time. Stay  strong and take comfort from the fact that you've had his company for many years.

Yes Dave I had the same thoughts at 60 and now another 5 years have flown by.

I am still young at heart Cathy and feel very blessed that my body is still able to function as it always had. A wee bit of arthritus in the hands and a terminal kidney disease but otherwise as good as new. I have a philosophy: I shall never get old because I define an old person as someone older than me.

Good night all and let's all support Ron and Anna at this difficult time.

It's getting hot here now...and next 24 hours we are under an weather alert for "heat"..about five hours left to buy yourself an Powerball lottery ticket...up to 325 million dollars for the winners/winner. Have the kids sitting quietly and doing games or watching tv right now..or on computers. Time for getting out the jeans and into an pair of shorts though. Today's so called "old person" is an far cry from our great-grand parents generation...colllege days for me saw the first of the metal bands and people like " Metallica", and an whole new style of music. It's only the younger kids that think my era was the 50's...when my days were actually more into the 70s era. So I don't feel old listening now and then to "Magic Carpet Ride" and understanding the musical significance....but it totally embarasses my son...laughs*... " Mother's" are not suppose to like that kind of stuff. Wait until his older years come around..LOL. He may be stuck with an bottle of wine and "the blues".

Our sincere thanks to everybody for their kind thoughts, good wishes and prayers for Don.

It's tough getting old isn't it? We think back to what we have done over the years and it seems like just yesterday that we were 15 years old with our Mum and Dad still caring as we prepare to start work, but before you know it the back is aching, the legs give way, you are glad to lie down at night and then wham, something hits you to bring you down one step at a time, until you get to where Don is right now. He has chronic kidney failure, heart failure and water on the lungs to name but a few problems, and ends up in hospital with his family naturally worried.

He can't survive this, but hopefully we can make his journey a little less uncomfortable. Of course not everybody gets the opportunity to say goodbye, but either way it still hurts those left behind doesn't it?

Thank you dear friends.

It is very hard on those left behind.  I am glad you will have the chance to ease his days with love and comfort and get to say Goodbye and prepare yourselves for the inevitable end.

Love and thoughts continue to be with you all at this time!
