When I' not talking about Gold...I'm discussing "Alchemy"...how many of you know about " Ambegis"...it is the waxy substance of cholestrol in the intestine of sperm whales...I did not know the Atlantic Ocean had sperm whales..it says that it's secreated and floats on the water and shorelines...it's used in perfume...as an spice, and incesence and was carried by people during the plaque, as an deterent in the air. .which they thought was where they were catching the plaque from to begin with..it has an sweet musky odor. Charles I favorite food was eggs with ambegis...so says this article..and some considered it an medicine for headaches, colds and epilpsey...you can get it in perfume yet...sold by Britany Spears, Estee Lauder, Jennfer Lopez, Sarah Jessica Parker, Dior, Gucci, Calvin Klein and others..and now these days in the Middle east it's use to sweeten ciggarettes. Some even consider it an aphrodistic.IN 1630 three guys went to Bermuda...hunt for wild hoggs...found some of it in an hunk that they started shiping it back to England as England sent them supplies back. One of them went back to England and joined the East India Company to market it.. and become wealthy. I can't say I've ever heard of it until this article came out. The kind of perfume I buy is in an bottle.. liquid and cost $110 an bottle..Channel.. so I don't use it to much. I think this stuff might be the type that you rub on the skin more so.

Morning/afternoon to all POEsters...

Shirley although I can't remember the exact details, a guy was walking the beach here in the UK and came across what they described on the television as whale vomit. He walked past it, went back later and picked it up, but it apparently stunk like you might imagine.

It turned out to be 'whale vomit' (Ambergris) used in perfume and was reckoned to be worth somewhere in the region of £100,000.00

Just Googled it before I posted so see http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/video/2013/feb/01/whale-vomit-found-beach-video

I'm off down the beach! lol

The early morning sun is shining beautifully right now, though the sky I can see from my window is very gray. Something is moving in.

So the conversation for the day is horsemeat and whale vomit. YUK!

I'll stick with my lovely sunshine.

I've been enjoying Martin Humphreys spring pictures from last year that he has just submitted. I am very spring hungy, and I am very homesick for my homeland which has the most beautiful spring flowers and wildlife.

I have decided that if all goes well, and I'm done with my chemo and radiation in six months, I am going to try to get to Engalnd in October to celebrate being cancer free. Fingers crossed.

Hi Everyone!  Unlike last night we see to have an early storm tonight so it is quiet at the moment and I hope it stays that way for a while!!

Had a wonderful outing to see the Chinese New Year Celebrations at the Buddhist Temple in a nearby Town!  Very colourful, very busy and a great crowd of every colour & creed!  The sun also shone despite the weather forecast of rain from mid morning!  (Although it got a bit too hot to standing out in it!).  So glad we went and I experienced this!

Happy New Year everyone - It is now the Year of the Snake!!

Thanks Ron. Just dropped in really as I thought the folks might enjoy a look-see. I sent it to others on POE so you may have gotten it already.

Enjoy your day.
