In recent years, it seems, the real life MPs have lived up to and exceeded the limits of the comic persona. Sad to see him die so young, but at least he was spared the indignity of old age. After being with the Christy Minstrels, he had been invited to join The Association in the latter '60s when he was on their chart hits, Windy, Never My Love, and Cherish. He last performed with them in Feb this year. The Association had opened the Montery Pop Festival in 1967 and were best known for their folk-rock with multiple harmonies. |
