Jackie Trent,singer and songwriter ,aged 74. Jackie and her husband Tony Hatch wrote the song "Where are you now (my love)? which was number 1 in the British charts in 1965.The pair also wrote the theme for "Neighbours" and the songs "I couldn't live without your love" and "The two of us".They wrote 400 songs.

Richie Benaud,legendary Australian cricket Test captain and pre-eminent commentator ,aged 84.He was a much loved cricket commentator at the BBC in England and Channel 9 in Australia.

Entertainer Keith Harris has died from cancer.

Probably best known for his performances with his puppet named 'Orville' Keith Harris was 67 years of age.

Indeed, his song Stand By Me also has the distinction of being one of 25 recordings per year chosen by the U.S. Library of Congress National Recording Preservation Board for their preservation library.

another of his songs I never knew was his is Spanish Harlem which was covered on one of my very early Herb Alpert and the Tiajuana Brass LP's as well as other artistes later covering it too. Used to love their Mexican Mariachi trumpet sound.

Apparently that song 'Stand By Me' was covered by 400 artistes Paul.

Those of us of a certain age will remember Ben E King as part of our growing up, our courting, our life. He will be missed for sure.
