We have lots of bald eagles where I am. Also a busy beaver is driving the conservationists crazy they bring down his dam for the salmon to get through but its up again next day. Dont know if I am for the beaver or salmon. Think the conservationist have given up at least for a while |

Sk Lawson Posts: 4014 Joined: 7th Oct 2010 Location: USA | Posted at 18:06 on 8th August 2013 Colleen..you know about the propsed fight going on here in Oregon by an company that wants to haul an super sized shipment headed for the Canadian tar sands through National forest lands in Idaho and through the Nez Pearce the Indian Reseervation..of whom both say they won't allow it. It will be taking the over sized load through an scenic river coridor..rather the the ususal route down the interstate highway..and this company is so far ignoring anyone telling them "no" and the tribal reservation was getting out in force to stop them personally and the manager of the Forrest Service says "no" also on it. He wants to know why these people think they don't have to listen to anyone but themselves on what they want do. As he says, it would only require one "slip" and the whole area is environmentally shut down for years on end. the trucking company is out of Hillsboro, Oregon..called Omega Morgan. I agree, they can take it down the interstate like most shipments in the past, where the road is two lanes on each side and flat ground the entire way..and well monitored and supervised on this huge super loads of truckers today. Indians and forrest rangers should have their way with this issue. Hope everyone is having an nice day! BTW...they listened to the Indians and it's now proving we have Wild Salmon returning to Oregon waters that had been going extinct in the past. PGE knocked down several smaller dams on side tributaries going into the Columbia...and their food is enhanced from the dams not filtering the water also....so insects/bugs. berries and smaller fish they feed on is getting down stream better. This usually gets deposited in side pools of deeper water downstream also..where the returning fish stop to rest on their way back to spawn up stream. |
