I've been doing finances and all I can say is   .  It seems we had just gotten our head above water and now medical bills are piling up.

On a happier note, a Turkey Vulture has been sitting in our neighbours tree this morning. Heavens! I hope is not a bad omen.  HA! Just kidding! I don't believe in omens.

Hope your all having a grand day.

Sue, maybe I'm being a bit daft here, but doesn't your medical insurance cover your bills, I thought the idea of insurance was that they paid for everything. I don't know what we'd have done last year without the NHS our daughter had a total of five operations and six weeks in hospital.

No RR, you're not being daft.

We have to pay a deductabe, which is quite large; then we pay half and then they cover the rest unless they refuse to cover it, They didn't cover my PET scan, which was a huge amount. Now I have a little more energy, I will call the insurance and try and get them to cover it. I just haven't been able to face long, detailed conversations on the phone.

I'm glad they are covering all of it now, as just ONE bag of Oxaliplatin (chemo med) cos $10,400 (yes, I did sat TEN THOUSAND) and I had nine of them.

Ha! I guess this thead should be Good Day "42" and not 43. Like I said earlier, blame it on the chemo brain .Smiley stupid.gif

And while I'm on here again, the reason I changed my name to Tru Brit is because I was reading through that old post, the one where eveyone was getting all het up; and Jason was replying to another member called Sue, who has now deleted her account, so it made it look like it was me he was mad at.  I didn't like that.

I've been Trubrit for abot 23 years on other boards, so there you go.

Sorry to hear about the cat Richard...all our pets, reguardless of what species were like "family" in their own way.  WE sat through the bad times and the good times together. I still miss MIss Belibeau..I use to go out to the kids house and say...Good day Bell....and she'd sit down beside me an warbled some kind of noise out of her mouth and I'd just have to laugh...and tell her things would be better if they weren't right now. She's always gave me an kiss with her cold nose as if she thought it was nice for me to chat with her a bit. Then she'd go to her "spot" and lay down an snooze for an bit.

I'm on break time...I could use an guy's help right now though...and hubby has "Round Table tonight..sitting up an canopy out over th etop of mu flowers out back...I hope they make it, they are limp and wilted as it and we watered really good Saturday morning. .I'mmaking the Spaghetti I was going to make last week...and I can associate with Chef Ramsey at the moment over in Brighton, England cooking. on TV....you never know what to expect from one moment to the next. The Sciliian vegges are more Tuscan I thinkwhen I added the cherry tomatoes along with the oregano, basil, olive oil and an spec of garlic and onions....my spaghetti sauce I'm working at as hubby has drank my wine I reserve for my spaghettisauce..surprise....the French bread we got the other day ...I think day old regiamorges set it, hard as an statue to the Gods...I'll be working on that one with little "slider" buns. Maybe some mazorella on top,if I have the time. I'm having an diet coke in quite resolution right now, thinking had an taken an plane over to England I'd be there by now, eating fish with Ruth probably and picking on Ron and hugging Sue perhaps. But I'm not...I'll have to make do as usual with where I am.Does Chef Ramsey have long distance "take out"? Kind of like those kids over here that found out the closest Pizza palce to an homeless college kid over New's Eve, called in and had a pizza delivered to him, to more guys over in London took off and to share some drinks with him. I thought that was nice.

Sunday's morning newspaper yesterday we got an chance to look at what Kate and William may be dressing in the baby in. They are sure they will keep the little guy as sauve looking as the rest of his family. Not sure if matching mom and son, or matching dad and son outfits...maybe all three of them matching. Well, break is over and I'm off  to do the spaghetti so it can sit an bit an soak in the sauce, and I like meaty slurppy noodles, not drippy...for Spaghetti.

An song from "Dino" now that all the guys look decent in hair cuts and we are ready for dinner.  Will talk to you later. I'll try to leave some strawberry cheesecake for you all. We could use some wine and candles, but hubby's in an hurry tonight...so we pass on those.

Sue, the Cancer society usually helps on some of the costs they say, and you can generally take an medical bankruptcy on some of it also, it won't affect your house or belongings,..but the bill will be wiped out. We had to for me with the heart operation. I still paid off $10,000 of the deductible...by way of an insurance policy we had...wiped out most of it as to any benefits should I die though.

My insurance company was right with me the entire way, and still are today. I don't do anything that they don't look into first. They will not pay an dime more then what the standard fee is for the services rendered. On the billing at the bottom it says....All billing inquires are to go to the insurance company..the patient is not to be bothered for any service fee's otherwise. Then they tell us what is allowed and what we need to pay directly....after that. It makes an lot of doctors mad, but it keeps the prices down an bit and the doctor care moreaffordable. Plus they donate so much to what ever we have for the operation automatically...such as your cancer operation...they give an per centage yearly to the Cancer Society to get them to keep their fee's affordable...and help their patients. they do this with an number of other health problems also. The money is basically used for research work to stop the ailment...less it..save lives.

Morning everyone Smile

Sue, I'm shocked at those prices. I don't think I'm ever going to moan about the NHS again. Joanne and myself sort of worked out the best we could how much she had cost the NHS in treatment last yea,r and we got to a figure roughly between £200,000 and £300,000. We do just take it for granted that we are going to get fixed without the worry of insurance companies. My Daughter-in Law is German and she has 300 Euros deducted from her wage each month for medical care. With the higher tax rate they have over there 50 per cent of her monthly earnings are taken away in deductions.
