I'm not 100 per cent sure but doesn't the bloatware that manufacturers like Acer, Dell etc put in their hardware get messed up with the Windows OS and cause problems with the files, fragmenting them all over the system. Windows operating systems run a lot more stable if you can get the manufactures bloatware removed, or run Windows on a Mac. Dave John Posts: 22335 Joined: 27th Feb 2011 Location: England | Posted at 14:17 on 8th December 2013 I tend to run a programme 'CCleaner' (a very light download) once week and it keeps removes all sorts of rubbish. I also us a defrag programme 'DeFraggler' from the same company as CCleaner every 2 or 3 months, although all this does is realign all the data on the hard disk to make it more compact and quicker to find, not that you would notice the difference, but it is well worth running.
