Do any of the photos on PoE ignite memories?

In my case, this one does.

St Giles Parish Church, Matlock, Derbyshire

It's St Giles Church in Matlock, Derbyshire.

Back in 1977, I was a student at Matlock College of Education (training to be a teacher) and the church is in my head for two reasons.

1. It was famous because it was used as a location in the film Women in Love

... but the main reason I remember it is:

2. I once spent a couple of hours in that churchyard on a warm summer's night (far too many years ago) talking to an old friend who is no longer a friend.

How about you?

Any special pics?

Hi John. Great idea for a thread. Here's a couple from me.

The first is of the Malvern Hills. I've got many cherished memories from walking these spectacular hills. From being knee high to a grasshopper walking along them with my Dad, to teen years when me and a friend would climb them at night to lay back and stare at the millions of stars and wonder at the universe. Then in later years, taking a very gentle stroll up them with Sarah when she was expecting our first child. The Malverns are a very special place to me for many reasons, and whenever I see a picture of them on this site, the memories come flooding back and so does the incredible urge to visit them again.

Tewkesbury Abbey where Sarah and I got married. A very special day in a very special place. The Abbey, since i was a small child, has had special significance to me, and my mum and family still live within its shadow today.

Never been to Tewkesbury Abbey, but I've walked The Malverns.

You're right, Chris. Wonderful part of the world.

I got married in Bakewell, and afterwards we all got disgustingly drunk at The Peacock!

Picture of my homeland. Wales. Usually covered in cloud or rain, but I love waking up in the morning and looking out the window, and seing MOUNTAINS. Not just the houses across the road.

What a great idea for a thread.  Kind of like going thru someone's picture album.  Obviously none of my England pictures generated any memories, in fact, I don't think I thought about America once the whole time we were over there (2 whole weeks, lol).  But when I look at the pics I took while we were there, I can relive the trip.  It was wonderful!

There are so many pictures which bring back memories to me - as I have a poor memory they really help! Pictures of holiday places where I have had such good times with my family are high on the list but I have picked this one I took at Haden Hill Park because I spent nearly every day as a child and a youth in that park and it is still a lovely magical place surrounded by houses and factories and a great escape for people who live around it.

Great shot Stephanie.....I trust it hasn't changed much over the years. That's the trouble with memories of places, most of them seem to have been affected by 'progress'.
