Statue near the Abbey Ruins, Reading

Statue near the Abbey Ruins, Reading

This mysterious sculpture (a copy of 'Death' from the Dorset Martyrs trio by Elisabeth Frink) is sited close to the Abbey Ruins. It stands in a small garden close to office buildings. Although this is private land as Paul Hilton says in his comment below, this is a technicality, and the public have open access to the walled garden.

Interior of St. James' Church, Reading

This was probably the first church designed by A.W.N. Pugin. The architecture is Romanesque, unlike Pugin's later work. The style may have been inspired by Reading Abbey, the ruins of which are nearby.
