I don' tknow what your problem is in England, as I don't ive there, but I do know "part" of what ours is over here in the USA. When JFK was president he encouraged the hiring of the welfare group and to help train them in public/Government postions. Now they are all up in ages from having an hey day in the past of living off the Government and those that wer leading them are retired and have left...so up comes the next generation...and these people not ever having an middle income life don't know what it is....they went in ttheir time from proverty  to "riches" but they never really learned how to get there on their own...so yes...they come up with the most rediculous ideas. It will get worse, as the only people they have taken under their wing  are those that are like they were. You can not have any compassion for the burden of paying for this country if you never did it...and most these people never did...they acquire just enough "authority" to write their own checks in the 80's. Some people over here are claiming that they are pushing us, trying to get us into an Revolution...that the truly wealthy have left the United Sates now...and when this Revolution starts...it will be the miltary with an "excuse"..beign civil unrest...shooting off and murdering as many people as they can over here...so when the wealthy return...there will be no competion from the middle class and again, those left will be so stupid they can be made into slaves..because they won't be allowed to think for themselves,..though most of them couldn't to begin with anyway. Our President's since before Clinton have been on the route to see this in fruitation. They all have been working on the same way of "solving" problems...the first one is to ignore it...as if given time it will go away....second one is to give them an little pocket money to shut up...but still don't solve the problem...that's if the "Meeting" didn't do any good to convince them everything is "OK" when it's not first.. As you can see...the agenda is always....never solve the problem.....and of course it's pushing toward an "show down" as we get less and less and have less and less and no one seems to care....and ..no "chaos" o fth eproblem doesn't solve it either.  We had soimething similar recently also...they want to close down the only bathroom on Mt. Hood...which is an 20 mile drive one side of the mountain to the other without running into an public restroom. So...People can crudely "Pee" on the side of the road... like rouges would do... as mother nature's calling isn't going to stop..bathroom or no bathroom. Maybe when they see enough of grandma's "butt" in the air...they'll keep it  like it's been for the last 50 years....as it wasn't built there on an whim many years ago. As for these other dudes...they never really "earned" what they got paid..it's time things changed. Sad thing is you have no leadership now to teach them much of anything. Even Warren Buffet is saying this in another way..but the message is the same, besides go ahead and raise my taxes...as I have enough deductions I'll get even more back if you do...also is the man that use to run the Chrysler Corporation....his latest book.. there is no real leadership that knows what they are doing...other then those spending everyone else's money. We got more problems then even that coming up...we have used all our resources up. Earth can barely sustain us any longer...the planet is dying slowly day by day...and mankind isn't helping it to recover. Living green, goes more then expensive solar panels...it's about not wiping out and replanting and replanting...got that...what God gave us when we arrived here in the 1600's. In 500 years we have wiped out nearly 7/8 of the forrest material in the USA...in order to have green golf course grass...many species of plants have died...our bees depended on them(like danidlions/clover/berry plants...they are dying out also...no pollination of plants means no food....we die also. Genetic seeds are causing widespread "warped" physical species, including humans. ..many animals simply won't eat the stuff(Inidia)...and they through genetics have caused what use to be "natural" to never reproduce itself as an plant either(Hybrids). The seed going out to the "gardeners" are modified to where they are lucky to produce but an few vegetables per packet of seeds....bu tnot enough to sustain an family for any length of time. As my hubby said...they take the richest soil in any area and immmediately slap houses on top of it...cement streets...and leave the rest of the poorest soil on the planet to be where we are expected to grow food and nursery stock...and wonder why prices are so high. But more then anything...we have mined this planet and used this planet to near "death".  Our basic freedoms need addressed...but so does our main concern of "livabilty" in all avenues. Our old folks should have things for free, or nil of cost...they don't... yet they paid an lifetime of their wages to help others...but if they did....we'd not have enormous health costs. If we didn't have enormous health costs, then everyone could be using that money for other things..like driving to their houses to check on them. It is our basic needs in life that are to expensive. I never saw any bankers going broke when we use to deduct all our credit card interest in the years before...like they are now. God has an way...and that way is when we think greedy...we go bankrupt. What's greedy...it's not handing over everything you got because some one yells "help"...its about accessing how to help them to have what they NEED and  so they never need to yell help to begin with. People will always need...shelter, warmth and coolness within thier shelter(Utilites)....food...medical care..."room"...that sounds dumb but that's what the Indians are all upset about...they don't like the jail cell we placed them in and no one else is going to like being pigeon-holed with no place for "room". So we need to be preserving "free" and open areas" on our planet...that is not always perfectly park maintained...but an part of nature. We need education..at least enough to communicate and educate ourselves if need be. I would add to today's world...transporation also. I would add an way to freely communicate also. I'm sure I left some things out...and we don't need all the time expensive over priced help...just good and honest help.

I have an sister in-law right now...she went out and bought herself an new 4 by 4 "jeep"....and lost her job...says she needs an operation on her leg to replace the cartledge on it...in the meantime she's getting $1,200 an month on unemployment.  My first thought was...why are you asking the Government to do this operation for you and let the public pay for it...why can't you sell your "new" jeep, buy and less expenisve but good one and pay for the operation yourself... and be happy with the unemployment checks. So she's thinking now...if she's down with this problem...how she can get the Government to pay for her "continued education" while she recouperates also...so she can go out in an lucreative job when she's all over with this "pysical problem"...but I betcha if she's not wanting to work..she'll find an way out for them to pay for that also. I'm 63 years old now...I've collected less then $300 my entire lifetime of unemployment..though I worked 20 years outside the home. My parents told me when I was young to "find an way" as that's the way it was "growing up"....and taking responsibilty for one's self...if I didn't have the money. Maybe that' s why people like singer "Ray Charles" can end up and millionaire "singer" and be completely blind?...You gotta try and help yourself also. Until people figure that out there will always be "banker types" out there yelling for help. Obama should of given them half of what they asked for and see what they did with it first. As it is, he's finding out that the people need the "justice system" from the crooked way they are handling the problems. When he's not helping... the people are turning to the state level...and getting it.  In fact several states have threatened to pull out of the US..if he doesn't change his tune on things...such as the illegal immigrant issue also. So your country is not the only one in deep "do-do" as we call it. I think much of the problems could be resoved if people would use common sense. If people need bread...and don't have the money for flour(don' t give them cake)...see if there's the money for Soy Flour...Rice Flour...Corn meal..Rye flour,. Oat flour...there's hundreds of other potential kinds of things to make flour out of... and resolve to see to it that the flour they want IS affordable eventually... so they can have some of it also. I'm getting into these long conversations again in POE..that I was hoping ot avoid in ways. As Ronb says...no one really has the time to read them...and I'm sure they'd rather be like "banker" dudes anyway...if they can get away with it...it is after all "human nature" to take the easy route.

Beg my pardon...we seem to be having bad "solar flare" activity and along with it high winds at the coast. It stopped the transmission of "Dancing iwth the stars" at least 5 times tonight. West coast is going crazy right now with small earthquakes from central america all the way up and into Canada. It may also be attributing to my being an chatter bug right now. Also maybe why I was dizzy Friday...Saturday and earlier today also. They really affect me for some reason...let's hope it quiets down for the rest of the evening. Talk later on...

I certainly do read your posts Shirley and have to say keep 'em coming.

I find them really interesting, but frankly I don't know how you manage to fit everthing into your day!

As for your sister in law we have plenty like her over here also. You get given everything here, unless you are born here that is!

well, I took your advice cathyml..and slept in till noon practically today.  You know I guess I was privedlged when I was younger, most everyone I knew and worked with were in thier mmid-40's when I was just breaking 20 years old...most of them were college granduates, and few of them with their Phd"s and many of them otherwise running and business of their own or for someone. One reason I was never an hippy back in those days of my peers. It use to be that prices and quality counted, your customer was treated with respect and their concerns were your concerns. Helping the teenagers into the work field wasn't to get cheaper labor...everyone was paid the same. Therre was an desire to be self-dependent. There was an honor to having an higher education...it was not taken for granted. Ideas were looked up favorably if they were useful and of common sense....but dreams were for the making. Today is an all different society. How can people be sharing and "open hearted".... if they are always beset with only given the least...we have evolved our whole world now upon money out of the necessity for it to live daily. The Reverand was telling me that he actually makes more money earning less...because if he doesn't make as much...he's subsidized...more he makes...the more he's required to pay out of his own pocket money. He says, it' shard to find an "rich" preacher unless he was born that way..and people don't like the mulimillion dollar "relgious"  ownership as it is of many churches...but they are the way of the future unless things change. Only way to get out of it is sharing with each other what you can.. at no cost.

I've already made four loaves of zucchinni bread, but could make some more...freeze them up and my garden is cleared out for this year pretty much on the squash issue. We gave some to my daughter in-law the other day. WEather is going to clear for an coupleof days..so proably work on at least gettign an path aroundt he side of the house here. Washed some clothes yesterday. Working on my list for winter..so I can enjoy my hoildays and read my book by the fire here later on. I'm still unsure about Christmas this year...but I'm going through stuff...I found two kids un-opend story book DVD's yesterday...I'll add them to the pile. I went to bed thinking around here somewhere I have the plans on how to build your own snowshoes. That might be an gift. There's always an overnight "stay" somewhere also....that usually has the greatest "impact" as an gift. Depends on where you go though.

I have to tell you...I was an bit worried about this firewood...and my neighbor use to own the ground these houses sit on now....we been though an lot of years "talking" as time goes..she was behind the truck the kids had the firewood on...and they made her stop so they could back it in the yard...we went over and started talking to her...as she waited...and I said...I got it!...isn't it wonderful!...and she laughed and she gives me an big clap of the hand and says...Way to go!...worry no more!...and starts laughing. Since she's older then I.. we talk about taking turns on this walking now...she looks at me and says...when you walk last?...I said meekly...two days ago...she says...then I guess it is my turn at this. I said.. "Carry on trooper"!..as she walked past me. I can remeber them living here when I was an kid...the two big houses on the hill kind of..and all this ground was pasture land with cows on it.  Her husband and his borther had the houses built back then. They had thier fruit orchard...just like I have my fruit trees now. Use to share jars of chutney back when we first moved in...which in a couple of weeks will be 33 years ago. Talk later...I needed this morning's "sleeping in".

Great post again Shirley. I reckon every POE member has a good idea of what your home, life, garden, thoughts are like and can actually relate to some of them.

Meantime....morning/afternoon to all POEster's.

It would be nice if they came in and discussed them with us...so I don't feel so alone at some of this going on...... I'm working on my winter coat at the moment...washing it..... and it looks like it needs an button..... So off I go again for an bit...to go and get an button.

Say, warn your tourist section....in Mexico they found four decaptiated heads near an resort town down along the coast...you can see the newspaper article in redit.com...and they formed an vigilante group out after the drug cartel...which I understand has inflitrated their police now.... It appears the people losing their heads some cases are the tourists. This does not help thier economy...but then they can't regulate the people if others are around in the area, that don't buy into their drugs.

I hear what you say about Mexico Shirley but it won't affect Anna and I here in beautiful England.

Obviously, you have to feel for those tourists who do get unexpectedly involved, but the coastal resorts here in the UK are so beautiful that I don't know why anybody would want to go abroad!

Temperature of 29c expected today...Wow! Summer has returned!!

Hi everyone! Hope you are all having a great day and have super plans for the weekend! :-)

Have had a couple of gruelling days - yesterday I spent 8 hours scrubbing and cleaning, wall, paintwork, bathrooms, tiles, windows - at the new house to be!  But only got about half way (yes it was that bad!)  Planned to go back and finish today, but guess what?,  no @#$%^&* water again! So did some more sorting out - all the linens this time about 2/3rds will have to go - I won't have 4 extra beds to worry about!!

So tomorrow - its back to the grindstone with scrubbing and cleaning - this is - unless we have no water again during the day tomorrow!!!!!

I didn' t make it to the store for the coat buttons, because I washed all my bed linens yesterday and changed over some for winter. I took to sleeping bags...with the kids....it makes it easier making beds and they are washable and can be used anywhere...something they taught us in private school...put the bed down low and use sleeping bags for the little kids. They showed us an 2 or 3 year old use to make her own bed everday. Besides if the matress is on the floor falling off it won't see them get hurt.

Simon's "X-Factor" was really an bang up show last night in more then one way...as they stood up on some of the songs people were singing... they were that good....down along the bottom of the screen was this...News alert!....Portland police are investigating an report of an man threating people in an apratment complex near 16th and Yamhill streets with an gun..they have put up an partition in the area, and buses have been rerouted around the area..we are asking people not to go down there and if your in the area to be aware and try to stay out of it..expect bus delays also.....more on the 10 pm. news...It was another crazy night in the city.

Red Elk came in to tell us that he is observing the plants in eastern Washington state "tightening" up......he says this is an indicator of cold winter coming up...and tells us all to prepare now. He says he also keep having " dreams" of being attacked on American soil...and all the men are gone and women are carrying on without them...he says that he see's the men in small groups going off to protect their homes...and says he hopes more becomes clearer on this as time goes...as to what this dream means...or if it's going to be an actual occurance later on. His predictions have not been to good in the past in happening so far...perhpas an personal dream for him or another?

An nice day...I must go.. getting an small list going of things I need so better go get them done. Hope everyone is having an nice day..another summer like day here, but with wind...and next week the rain returns. I have not as yet had time to make it to the post office Cathy...sorry  Talk later on.
