I'm used to cooking as I did for quite a while when the missus started going down but cooking for one isn't fun. An hour to cook and 5 minutes to eat it. Good night all |

I'm still trying to find one "Peter O'Cana" information that married my great Aunt Katherine...most of the O'Cana's down south of me are " spanish"...to try to find his legacy... so goes from what I'm being told. She always claimed they were "Irish" and I went there looking for them also...Ireland...kind of an "maybe....."but nothing postive so far as to indepth genealogy...if so.. very very long lines from way back to Ireland's early beginnings....I have to start from here to over there...and I have no data on him other then his name. I could tell you better where they lived near the Huntington Library though....as she took us to their house they had owned one time. She reminds me so much of Mrs. Dobbins...our old neighbor, in Rockwood..often called "Little Mexico" these days from the Hipanics that moved in as most of all us moved out...to buy bigger houses..,I was trying to buy her house to move my mother in and she cleared it the day after mother died...to late then. I doubt now that my dad would of went for it...he had his own girfriend then I think...my later step-mother...whom he gave everything to at his death. I wonder if he appreciates the absolute povery he enspouced for all us kids to woller around in...bad parentiing in ways. He should of saved mom the " wasted time" and never married her. If you never want your kids to ever amount to anything...be sure an do "nothing" for them. It works every time me thinks...esp in today's world. Just tell them that "going it alone" with help that even the Federal Govermenents gives to the low -income, homeless, and helpless is more then what they will be given...they will be expected to earn every dime they make and pay all the bills for what the government gives away and be expected to do it cheerfully... no matter how much they go without. My going over to my sister's house recently made me think of going into the slums of an third world country..and you guessed it....my hubby and I get to buy her way out of it...like we have been doing since mother died... living amid an brand new low-income huge apartment complex. Just don't go through the front door. So probably trying to fix up my house will be stalled another year.. for the cause of others. Sister dear called me up around Christmas time crying and saying she couldn't take it much longer then. It's a shame that men can't help single girls without the sex...because that's the true problem in ways...she won't' "give" it...and can't "work" because of her age...health. This is an giganitic problem for me...one that I've had pushed on my shoulders since my mother passed on at age 48 years old. Perhaps she didn't care either back then, she just could not cope with it all and her health also...but she was always accusing my dad of trying to kill her...and I'm not so sure he didn't. Sad, but possibly true. I find that even with my hubby now..give me all you got... and I'll take all 'Ive earned...I think what dad really wanted was an gal that gave out "doweries" like in the Middle east...and he owned everything otherwise...world don't run like that these days...and if they'd admit the truth..it caused an lot of their problems also over the last centruies. Not only that, but why should only one always be expected to do the giving?...but never the receiving. I am understanding that today...worldwide....people are protesting over much this kind of lifestyle...with the "Occupy" protestors at the head of the group....and they are clashing all up and down the west coast so far in the news. Equality and fairness and balance needs to go on in all things these days....with all people. That includes the "warring" factions also. My son just stopped in an got himself some bacon and strawberry cheesecake to make dinner with tonight....I wonder if they have much food in thier house. Let me guess...breakfast for dinner?Took my grandson with him....he was here with an sore throat. I guess I go for now...... both my cats are staring out the window...wishing the weather were better. Syd...do you know if any of your "Frasier's" were the namesake of the " Frasier River" here in the states? |

Too true Ron. I do know of a possible link to the 'states on the Harling side though. There is a chap named Michael Harling who hails from New York state but now lives in Horsham and his sister aged 5 looked exactly like my younger son when he was 5. It could be that my grandpa had a cousin who left for the 'states at the same time as he left for Africa. Silly man, can't imagine why he came here. |
Sk Lawson Posts: 4014 Joined: 7th Oct 2010 Location: USA | Posted at 18:51 on 2nd May 2012 You know what many people did over here...they changed the names to be different variations..whcih is not easy at times sorting them all out...my nieghbors up the street named Harlan Cornet...and my dad's cousins are the "Hardings" of Damacus area...I doubt the old folks are left any more though. Those back east don't know who the Hardings out here are...but I remember as an kid taking my grandmother came out to visit "Grandma Harding"...whom lived in Damascus in an small house off the highway there....there is also an Harding Street as well that was part of the pioneer wagon route into Oregon City after crossing the Clackamas River near Carver...whom that entire area is shirt-tail kin also to the Lawson family. Though in early days it was known as the "Barlow TRail Road" before the Harding family came around....to name the street over again. Probably kin to President Harding...as some of Dad's side is related to him also. I think that the Fraiser River I'm talking about is either in Alaska or Canada....I'll have to look it up as something rings an bell with me in Northern California also. West side (Pacific Ocean) is popping today...5 earthquakes under 20 mins all above 4 magnitude. Yesterday was one of LOTS of protests...but only the Govenor promised to maybe change things and let the illegals once again have their driver's licenses, they will drive rather they have them or not I guess you know...I hope he makes them pay for car insurance... like we have to do as citizens. I think all the rest of the protestors got arrested.... for forgotten about for the most part. This time around they broke up into groups as to what they were protesting about...some against banks and interest fee's on credit cards....some about the need for employment...some about health care reform in general....and the list goes on....some were protesting in general about being an forgotten segament in the nation of never being helped or heard. To help it along, everyone got soaked when the skies opened up with one heck of an Spring downpour of rain. It looks like most of them included immgirants that now want to be allowed free citizenship...so they can collect social security by the hordes here in an few years and take down that funding no doubt as they have the hospitals, having their kids, and the welfare society supporting them...it's always been an free "rip-off" for them in many cases in ways. When we asked thier coutnry to help us support them..they sent them some books...one time....in Spanish...not English and then reminded us that they were still foreign soverigns...even if they were living off us through our taxes...and we could not take action against them without Mexico looking into it...if they did any crimes...or got caught in doing crimes. So one small town police chief asked their president to pay for their passage back to Mexico if they didnt' want to obey our laws...and of course Mexico refused....for th emost part..just not taalking about that...so he went national with the story. Yesterday they arrested about 20 protestors here in Portland...but the protestors were nation wide...and in Seattle it tturned violent...and in many of the larger cities in California and across the nation. I guess those in Seattle came armed with as they called them...incenderary devices made out of toliet tissue rolls and fruit juice boxes. Maybe they think the police aren't getting enough Vitamin C?...... winks* At any rate...things seem to be pretty quiet at the moment....back to everyday stuff again....the daily grind of survival....you know..kissthy A** to someone else...whomever they may be. I know..please refrain from telling the truth...it don't sound nice. Sometimes I can't tell whose worse off...the guys above us or the guys below us or we ourselves any more. At any rate...Have an good day everyone! |
