Checking on my sister also, as they said on the news that an tree went over an car..on an major road through Oregon City and knocked out 7 power poles with it...and those people will be without power for two days before they can repair everything..I just called my sister's apartment house to see if it had power...they said "yes"....Ok..winds clocked at the 2,000 foot level on some ridge over near the coast at 114 MPH...over 6 inches of rain on the coast in the last 24 hours. We had an 3.6 earthquake in Portland this morning and my guess would be that it's most likely because this storm had such low pressure associated with it...but it's clearing out now pretty much...and will be gone by tomarrow. Storms like this are rare ones for the most part...and damage is still coming in from reports....they do an pretty good job these days tracking them. Will be an sunny and dry day Thanksgiving Day of all things. Waves are real high on the coast also...22 foot swells...Lincoln city had 4.17 inches of rain..Saddle Mt. 6 inches..Forest Grove 3.66 inches and Portland stands at 1.99 inches...Newport Lighthouse (Yiquana Bay)sp? there had winds of 98 mph. These storms are always short lived ones. Most the rest is street floodings pretty much..small creeks.. It amazes me how many people wouldn't pick up an rake... and go out and save thier neighborhood if they could these days. Anyway..I hope I don't fall alseep tonight watching dancing with the stars. Hope the boys head into bed early also. Talk later on. Have an good evening...and Ron if you had "fish" in your water sources you'd never have mosquitos as they would eat them for food....but so will the birds if you had birdhouses out and around there also. Even though hubby has his pesitcide liscense we still prefer an "Natural" way to deal with things of this nature if possible. Whcih is why I personally go out every Spring an pick off the leaves on my peach tree that have peach curl on them and then fertilize them heavy...the more healither the tree, the less this stuff takes hold of it. You can also tuck in bird feeders on plates made off old tea cups and saucers in your rose beds to encourage the little birds to eat the aphids off your roses also...you can use the cups for water or for bird food. Just glue them to the saucers and the suacers on an small pole to stick down into the ground and forget about it all..let mother nature balance it all. ..who knows come early Spring you might be seeing wee little birds peeping out of an near by nest by Easter time. Take my word for it..they are cute little dudes. Esp those little bluebirds fluttering around like an bunch of little kids. Off they go before the garden ever gets planted most the time...or the cherries even ripen good. No problem what so ever. |

Still hot in fact and I can't sleep because of the heat and the bugs. Tomorrow will be damp and cool again. I am not sure which I prefer now. |
