Who would like to join me now in a vow to get fit over the summer? There are no rewards except the health benefits you will gain as well as the up-lift in your self esteem. But I think that alone is well worth it!

This will be the thread where we come to state, individually, what our goal is over the next five months (we'll make October 1st the dead line for accomplishing our goals). What is your goal? Do you want to lose weight? Then state how many pounds you intend to lose by Oct 1 (you don't have to put your current weight down...just the amount you want to lose). Do you want to build muscle, increase cardiovascular health, eat better, learn to run or jog? What ever your personal goal is, this is the place to record it.

We can use this thread to talk about what we are doing to meet our goals and to both give and receive encouragement. We can share techniques, recipes, and ideas for rewarding our selves through out the process.

Make your goal realistic and obtainable; you don't want to get discouraged by trying to do too much all at once.

Maybe I should make learning how to spell my goal? Embarassed LOL!

Okay, my goal is to increase my cardiovascular fitness and hopefully lose some more weight (although losing weight is not my primary goal, I am hoping it will be a side benefit). I intend to do this by:

1. Climbing the seven flights of stairs to my office twice a day (I already do it once a day).

2. Implementing a walking program that gradually increases in distance and difficulty each week, i.e. I'll start with a 30 minute moderate walk three times a week and then increase it to four times a week. Once I've done that I'll increase the distance and difficulty of the walk by a little each week.

3. Getting back to the basic low carb life style (I've been cheating a lot since Christmas! Tongue out)

Walking at lunch time is a great an relatively effortless way to get your exercise in Krissy! I do that myself when I am able. I just don't like to sweat when I have to go back to the office. Tongue out LOL! But then, I guess even a moderate walk in addition to my power walk will help.

I really need to start walking at night too. I've been on the PC too much at night!!  And I'll start playing soccer with Erin. The pool will be open next week so we should be going there everyday.  (although we had a tough time with the chlorine in the water...major rashes on girls!!! )

I think I eat pretty well. No meat, and I've been eating LOTS of steamed veggies and I could cut back on the sugar as well.

Great idea Diana...let's really stick with it!!!

Ahem!! I've been trying to diet in tome for my trip to NYC. I got down to 135 lbs, but, this last 2 weeks I've weakened. I was soooooooooo hungry! Scared to stand on the scales now in case I've totaly ruined my good work! Undecided

I walk to work and back every day. That is to both my jobs. I really want to get back into my mountain trekking/hill walking. Trouble is, my new man doesn't want to do the extremes I used to do. I feel so unfit now.Undecided

I am hoping to buy a mountain bike though, that should help a bit.

Iv'e been mountain biking for a month or so.  God it takes so long to lose weight.  I have lost some but not enough yet.  I think it's better anyways that it does come off slowly.  This time next year I might reach my target weight.Laughing
