Still hot, but we at least have high clouds today to shield us from the sun.  I sepnt an hour in my pool this morning cleaning it.  Lately it's been too hot to even go in the pool, unless you go out in the morning.

We could use a bit of rain - we didn't have many summer showers this year.

That's why it's so green and pleasant there, guys.  But you're right Dave, I sympathize with you.  It would be nice to have at least a few sunny days while on holiday.  It was overcast almost the whole time we were on vacation, but we didn't have rain.  That's what I like about living in Arizona, even though the summer's miserably hot, the rest of the year is gorgeous and we have sun 86 out of every hundred days.

Where you're vacationing Dave - it's still beautiful, despite the rain.  Looking forward to your pictures.

Will have to look up my books and see what it says about Sam Huston's Cherokee wife. Take me an bit of time to round it all up.

They could sure use some rain in Eastern Oregon...7 wildfires and over 106, 600 some acres burnt now...couplel are not contained at all so far, well over 2,000 fireworkers working on them, plus airplanes. I think maybe they were able to save the houses...total about 180 were in jeopardy at one time. These were started about an week or so ago from ligthening strikes.Pretty dry over there right now. No getting firewood until we do get some rain and it's safe to do so. New regulation...you stop cutting at 1 pm and have to wait there for one hour before you can leave... to make sure there's nothing on fire. They can see by way of satelittle these days you know...google.

Ruth, been many years ago since I've been down that far ...San Francisco...it's an 10 hour drive from where I live in Oregon....we like to go the long way....down through the Redwoods, over Mt. lasssen,..

love driving through teh lemon groves also....over lake Tahoe, then Reno...back to San Francisco and up the freeway to Oregon again...with stops the entire way to look at an bit of everything. Eat here, there and you never know what your going to run iinto...one time we stayed over night at Mt. Shasta..Lake in the area.  Redwoods are ussually cooler to travel through depending on the year. Lotsof little shops also. Ou tin th emiddle of now where...think it was called Garberville....some top rated LA chef has an retirement "restrurant".... that will knock you socks off.... the food is so good...if he's still around the area. Paul I noticed had an picture of the famous "Painted Ladies"...houses..... Yep..Flower Power Days too.

Got our boat back tonight...am looking down into it from the bedroom window...wonder why they didn't cover it up...gettign time to winterize it also.  They looked tired when they came in. We took them out an pizza when we picked up our truck, which had broke down out there Saturday...that's an story all of it's own also. It was so hot out there they had watered down their long deck to their front door.. so the kids could stand to walk on it. Bet she has the door open to coll off tonight and keeping an eye out for the mother deer and her fawn this year also. She gets to hear the prancing of small feet year around. School starts tomarrow. First day for many of them. I better get going for now.
