It is hot here today also, and I'm worried about our boat...with this hot sun on it...it's entire interior is white leather, with an splash of Navy Blue in it...I don't want it sunburned...the sun has already worked over the truck to where it needs an new paint job. But then I have things out on the patio table I don't want rained on,... though I could cover it with an tarp I suppose in an pinch. Have not let my kitty cats our for the day due to high temperatures either. They are not liking that either. |

Sk Lawson Posts: 4014 Joined: 7th Oct 2010 Location: USA | Posted at 00:13 on 7th September 2011 Hello James, left you an nice long answer...ane look what happened to it, all warbled and incoherent...just finsihed going out and parking the car under a shade tree and tried to cover up the back part of the boat a bit iwth an blanket. This week here will see us an week in the 90's with some days nearly 100 and that's to hot hot for me. Means it may necessitate sleeping days and being awake evenings, though hard to "shop" at those hours and they are not compatible with anyone else's...and I wonder how all the liitle kids are going to be doing in un-air conditioned schools. Esp by the end of the week. I know one thing...I think we better spend tonight and get the boat cover back on it again. We had arrive an marine newsletter again, talking about homeless on the river. I know it sounds like an lot, but they say there's now over 2,500 people living on the streets in an area of nearly one million people. In the case of boats they say there's about 250 derlict boats. But you know, if people don't like ti maybe they should keep some of the politicans self-enhancment wages and benefits and give it to the homeless. Then they won't have the problem. It says of many of them... they are living like they are because all they have to live off of is Social Security at an time when they didnt' make high wages to have an high paycheck.Tthey are trying to make money from the " junk" they store aboard thier boats as an way to live, o relse give to thers for free when they can to help them not be like they are...because they don't have job opportunites or skills...or some reason otherwise...transportation to and from otherwise. But talking about it isn't going to help them, niether is evicting them, so the only thing left to do is give up and understand an certain segment in life is going to need the help..and help them...look at things like these hurricanes and tornadoes...if those people don't have the money to get another house, they are essentially "homeless". You know there are all kinds of people living in china on "junkets" and you seldom see their Government complaining, they understand that not everyone can be the same.I was recently reading an story of some Russian Boys, whose parents just turn them out into the streets one day, they picked up living under an staircase of an building in Moscow...as young boys. At least they know over there to provide public education, food, and health benefits. Few people are around to know of the "orphan trains" of our Depression Days...but it was then parents were giving their kids up to travel on these trains to be hired out by anyone that would take them in...our first "hobo's" For the most part World War II did give them some beneifts...they went into the military. Thousands also died in that war. Which is better...to die in war...or to die by way of starvation and homelessness. We need some compassion perhaps...and free things..... where anyone can live and survive. No strings atttached either....unitl they can mesh into society on thier own. This week with the hot tempertaures is going to see me eating microwave food....so as to keep down the heat in the house here. I must say that if your an Boy Scout and you keep up your dues you can stay at most Scout facitlies for an few days for little of nothing,....and sometimes for just "helping" around them... to keep it operating daily. I'm sad that everyone can't be like they want to be...and as this article points out...whom wouldn't want an new shining boat to live in on the river...if they could afford it. |

Flooding all over the state with lots of roads closed. Hope it stops soon or I am going to need a boat! Hate the thought of having to go out in it today but I must. |
