Probably my last update on all this....so far 18 killed..inclludes two children....now leaving the New England area....winds down to 50 MPH..and has speeded up also. Lots of rivers breaking records with flood waters from the heavy rainfall amounts that fell in this storm. But take an look what's coming off Africa right now....hope they don't have an repeat here shortly. I'm not talking about this strom called Jose either off to the south of Irene.. Wild weekend...I finsish it off with "Brownies"....sending them to my grandkids via grandpa...so better get them frosted and sprinkles on them..talk later on. Sheli brought up an impoart fact...ther's something about "sex" and wild storms...having sex seems to calm the nerves and gives one an sense of security...so we go tthe offical professional anaysis of this fact in another web site....but all us gals agree prety much...in someone's arms.... during an time of crisis.... is better. |

No power outtages for my house but the flooding in my town and all of New Jersey is incredible!!! Rivers are cresting at record heights and damages to homes are off the charts!!! I'm glad it's over. Thanks everyone for your concern. How are Cathy and Diana doing? |

Cathy I presume your power is out, and we haven't heard from Diana for a while! Saying that - what has happened to Brenda?? Hi everyone, hope you have had a really good day today :-) |
Sk Lawson Posts: 4014 Joined: 7th Oct 2010 Location: USA | Posted at 18:00 on 29th August 2011 Today feels like an "aftermath" of something going through...though no hurricane here. Paper reads...21 killed in the storm, 4.5 million without power, 7 Billion worth of estimated damages...people have begun picking up the pieces. It's an soft ever so light drizzle of rain going on outside...just enough to dampen the streets. Gives on an feeling of an aftermath of things. Makes you want to rest. So, while the storm was on TV, I made 20 small pizzas of biscuit dough that you smash and bake for 10 mins at 350 degrees...then top as an small pizza, or breakfast pizza with scrambled eggs and ham(emergency food)...we tried out both...one German Apple Cake(appease the Nazi's) double package of brownies with chocolate frosting (chocolate cures everything), chopped up 25 cups of onions,(keeps the baddies away), re-arranged the backyard furniture and took down the summer tent...(without the wind conditions), and did other various liittle things to appease the psychic situation of this storm...try to lessen it somewhat. Now I'm tired.. I was tired to begin with to tell you the truth. Nice to se you Krissy..know your OK, hope the others will come in soon also. Bill Silver Eagle...in earthboppin.com.. is an liscensed Pilot as well as "ex" traffic controller for an airport, he's since then removed and lives in Alabama, trying to set up an retreat center...trying to keep alive Native American skills. He comes in during these weather condtions to try to help small air planes with data they might need in order to determine if they really want to take off to go somewhere...besides give us general weather data...Sheila is also there and she's pretty good about posting maps of tonadoes, and lightening strikes and flooding....like myself...her son is an ltrucker that is often hauling from west coast to east coast and back and she keeps in contact with him also...so she knows her weather conditions "instantly" off the internet and her son first hand. Coast to Coast did thier show Sat. night in the hurricane....they talked to Capt Kelly Sweeney...on ocean conditions and boating problems....and allowed call in's all night long...help with an sense that your not all alone in the world with an hurricane blowing outside...Howard Bloom came in an reported on New York City (Manhatten) also. Anyway some suggestions as to where I go for my information besides The Weather Channel and news stations. It will be nice to see the POE members postings of all those along this east coast region in here once again. Take care everyone and have an good day. |

About 2,700 or so miles from the hurricane for me, so safe and sound, Cathy. |
