I'm starting to settle down an litttle....Elk use to tell me....don't read the newspaper Shirley!!!....maybe so these days.

I got an lovely letter from Barbara Shoemaker today...she says pertty soon she'll be in an bit more often also...here in POE.

Cathyml...if you move...and I send you an receipe..they will send it on won't they...or will they?...should I wait or what?...  I have no idea how the mail is handled over there.

My sister in-law is watching four little girls this weekend...hum. As I told my sister tonight....use to be 23 kids in this block area...most the time five an day would be coming and going...for well until my son got married...one year out she's pregnant....one year later for the next at least 10 years there's been three grandkids...it's only been one year they haven't lived with me. I love them dearly, but my doctor sat down and he listened to my life...and he said...kiddo.. your wearing "YOU "out..so like when are "YOU"...going to take care of "YOU" for awhile...Then he said it...I'm going to tell you now that there's no more babysitting unless you have back up help with you there... or the kids are old enough to call 911 immmediately if they see you passed out on the floor...even then I'm not sure we could get to you fast enough without brain damage of some kind....you want to babysit and have a  little kid be there by themselves if your "dying"...no more babysitting Shirley...you have to take this responsibilty on yourself ...and adhere to it.. I'm not trying to be mean...just an Doctor telling you the truth. If you take care of yourself now, you can maybe someday see your great-grandkids. So, I have to fight it sometimes,  but I make people listen to what he told me. So I can drool over how cute the kids are...and hand them back to someone else. I no longer feel guilty about doing that either. I've had an houseful for well over 42 some years...besides during some of that time an 20 year full time job career going. I'll always be doing something....just it's I get the choices to make at what I'm doing. Besides...we still have the beasty type dogs to watch while they are gone and that's where my hubby is at now...out at their house taking care of the dogs...two full grown labradors, and one little doggie. We will be back there tomarrow also....with that I should go for tonight...I'm winding down an bit now for the evening...it looks like it's going to be an nice one. One to relax in  for an bit also....later.

Hi Everyone.  I do hope you are all having a wonderful weekend.

Cathy!! So glad to see you and hope there were no problems for you from Irene.

Mick - you got it wrong, Tim is not my cat, just a kitten I saw being born at the stables, lol.  (I am allergic to cat fur so can't have one anyway!)

Hi, everyone. Haven't been to POE lately, but wanted to wish everyone in the US a happy holiday weekend and a restful weekend for all the others on POE. Have my son and grandkids here for long weekend. Going to a county fair later today. Before all that, the hubby went by ambulance to the hospital, but is doing OK now. And, of course, Irene was here. The creek at the end of my street flooded and they evacuated, but we stayed here. They put new flood gates in and they did the job pretty well. Only a little water got over. Only damage I had was some tar paper blew off the top of the garage and now there's a leak. Hope everyone else affected faired OK.

to bad your allergic to cats cathyml...I walked out to start tearing apart the back porch, opened up and old cabinet with some old food in it I was going to throw away and ran into an mouse....cat's come in handy for that you know. I just decided to do like they do on the HGTV houses...and start by taking everything out of it...and working on slowly keeping what I want to put back in it. this cabinet is not one of them. It just does say one thing though....Ron is correct....maybe "sign" of auntumn is around the bend kind of early. Colder nights coming up.

Funny about this weekend...people are enjoying it or working...nothing in between so far. My neighbors are working it, but she's going quickly and finsishing off her front yard that faces our house this time.Couldn't have come at an better time. Hubby just hauled away and old sofa and sofa bed fo rme to the dump also. Smoke coming in from all the wild grass fires in eastern Oregon today with this east wind also. It comes up the Columbia River Gorge. I havent' read the papaer today...aren't you all lucky...but on the news they found homes for all those cute little kittens tossed out that car window.

For you science buffs...something to maybe be concerned about in my area. Seattle has for some years been having what they call "silent quake" epsiodes. They monitor them now, ususally they start in the fall and creep along northward or southward in Pudget Sound from fall to Winter...when our rains come in.WE were told in the past that the ground which moves and adjusts comes as far south as Mt. Angel/Salem area and as far east as Mt. Hood...and when this is on going little popper quakes happen...usually under 2 magitude. Mostly not felt by the populace..no damage done. If we didn't have this creeping going on... we'd have an "sudden" 7 mag quake...as that's how much energy this creepy releases. I have for years been reading the data they put out...one such was when the gravitaional readings went bonkers last year...toward Russia instead of true north. I think you all read maybe about thier having to reset the GPS on airports down in Florida. At that time an "slow quake" in Seattle area that wasgoing north sarted going west....then an coupel fo months it moved back east into it's old postion.

Jordan over in earthboppin.com posted an link to the latest "ets" report...earthwaves board yesterday...what an surprise. Surprise!..well, Oregon started having it's first "slow quake" episode on it's own June 3rd...they said that it's looking to maybe stop today,,or...???? Hum. If you go to the link provided by Jordan...and click on it and scroll down almost to the bottom there's the word Oregon underlined in blue...click on it and you will see the event there. If yoru read the whole article they were not expecting this at all when it happened and had to scramble to get to their equiptment for monitoring it. The area here started in Eugene, Oregon June 3rd and is stopping close to Longview, Washington now. It covers the entire Cascadia Suduction Zone area pretty much here in Oregon...the scarey one they sometimes predict will issue an 9 mg and pretty much destroy most the west coast if it ever does. This area is basically west of I-5 corridor goes down through Washignton State and into California...in this case from Eugene to the "hump" in Oregon's northern state boundry line. There yesterday(Calthamet?) ...they had an small earthquake according to USGS. Seattle is also right now having one also...but this time they are separate areas with Oregon's first known movement. I had been questioning for some time why the nice little line going south through I-5 an couple of times recently had small quakes. I thought maybe solar flares. Also I've been complaining of my ears...hearing an "hum" sound occasionally and I can remember when they first picked this up in Seattle... those people up there talking of hearing "hum" noise. The Cascadia Subjduct Zone goes into the earth on the west side of Mt. St. Helens.  But it goes under the North Amreican Platte off the coast of Oregon...it rides in off an cushion of ocean water that results as Hot Springs along the Cascade Mountains..Mt. Hood area north and south. Shell Oil company one time drilled for wells in the Portland area and ran into ocean water at the 1,000 foot depth (no oil though). right now don't know to much to think of al this...Seattle has been having them for years upon years now and monitored with not to much of an large quake. It says that for the most part they are now still moving the land areas slightly to the Northwest. It amkes me wonder if this is why Oregon Sate University recently took their Laser system of "Liddar" to check out the state...and as I reported found anknown fault north of Mt. Hood west of Parkdale that had at one time an horizonatal spread of 6 feet they decdied to go dig an trench at to see if they can get an history and date on the soil layers. for the most part it would affect you if you were planning to build an high rise in this area....you might would want it "earthquake" proofed. So much for Science today...this is something I keep my eye on...so now you have the backgorund information on it all. Talk later on.
