Syd...it usually takes at least an five magnitude before things get to rocking enough to make any damage unless your on the top of the epicenter. But I was reading about an house owner over in earthboppin in the "wows" board....an large family...he noticed the floor under his sofa was kind of sagging, so after the kids left, he decided he could fix it....to find out his sofa was over an 30 foot well, all that was keeping him from going downn ito it was the house flooring. You just never know some days.

Well, my book threw an curve on me...and the next chapter is the Queen Fearie telling how it's now 200 years later.  She has different people all together for the names...but three of them go to an castle to take in the master's young maiden daughter, on thier way home and bunch of Pirates ambushcade them....they knock out the High priestess, kill thier body guards....and high jack them for ransom. But the pirates get to drinking that night and the head honcho decides to rape the maiden....he was just about ready to... when the high preistess comes out of her stupor...and usues her magic to become the fire and she burnt the fella up...the others took off running and the maiden is saved. They go back to Avalon, but England is of course having problems from invaders..this would be somewhere around after 300 AD by now. I just left them with an "mid-summer" Druid ritual asking for help. Prices are high and wages are low...hum...no tmuch has changed in the world of today even on that one.  Not to much is left of this book to read either. People always seem to write the wildest things about English history...in one of Cromwell's books...the bad guy gets an catapult riped through his groin...ouchy...in battlel.last they see of him. . Talk about fighting dirty! I've often heard that you guys have the most "Ghost's" in all Europe...figures with that kind of stuff going

It's late...time for me to close my eyes and head for bed myself...as my "kitten mittens" is beside me now and ready...he's slept at my feet since he was an wee little tyke and still does, or somewhere close by otherise.....Usually it's her on one side of my feet and him on the other. Since your all waking up...I'll leave things for you now...carry on by all means!!! Have an good day!

93º F forecast for today, then a cool down into the 80's.

I wonder where Ruth is? It's been getting up into the 100's this past week in her neck of the woods.

Still its a beautiful day, and I've enjoyed my early morning (when its cooler) potter around the garden.

Church today. I've been kept busy planning meals for members who are struggling. People are so gracious and generouse with time and means, it always touches me.

Did I tell you that I had a cousin pass away? England of course, so I won't be able to attend his services.

Have the leaves started changing yet?  When they do I'll post an assignment for your British photographers. I did that once with conkers and got a wonderful response.

Wow Shirley that guy was lucky he and the sofa didn't disappear down the well. I guess all he had to say about that was, "well, well, well!"

There was some excitement in our village this morning. I set off to the nearest shopping centre which entails going over a low-level bridge. Now, when it rains heavily the river goes right over the bridge and one cannot cross but I didn't think it would be over today so went that way instead of going the long way round.

When I approached the bridge there was a small queue of cars stopped before the river so I guessed that the bridge was impassable.

That was so but wait, there's more. Sitting in the river, submerged up to the tops of the windows was a breakdown recovery vehicle. Apparently at around 10 PM last night the driver decided he could get across even though it was too dark to see how deep the water was or how fast it was flowing. Predictably the vehicle was washed off into the river. Fortunately the driver got out to safety.

When I arrived there his mates from the breakdown company had arrived with a rollback recovery vehicle and were trying to get a winch cable on the thing to pull it out. They clearly didn't know what they were doing because it is impossible to drag a vehicle out of the river there due to high banks and, of course, the bridge.

They eventually decided to leave it until the river subsided and went away. Clearly they can't tow it out so will need a crane to lift it out. I cannot belive how stupid some people can be. Nothing less than an army tank can cross there when the river is as high as it was last night.

I took a bunch of pictures and sent them to the local newspaper. Hopefully they will use them and write another editorial about the council's ongoing unwillingness to build a higher bridge. People have been asking for this for 30 years!

I hope all POEsters are well and had a good weekend.

Cheers

Wise man syd...turn around and don't try crossing...shame you guys can't have the higher bridge also, if it's needed that badly. Saandy River here an somemthing to comprehed when ut;s high...as an child watched my dad's relative George Moreland..owns an well known Plumbing business in Portland...his house on tv was swept away by the Sandy River...it was in all the newspapers. He also dabbled into real estate and built sevraal areas of town here, and I think his widwoed wife am local motel/restruant...then she sold it an build an housing complex over from me not to far away. I did not know them well, because they always worked..but I do have an fewof her receipes through the years.

I find myself having tremors today...and an high blood preading...or else indicating I'm not dieabetic perhaps also...by 20 points to low.Idrank 2 cups of coffee that I normally don't do, so dont' knwo if responsible for the shaking or not. I ususally can't stand to drink much of it if my hubby made it...to strong. Need to get ot the store and load up on more water and soem snapple drinks for this week. The weight loss stopped as of this morning for some reason...maybe it slowed down instead...as I have much more weight to lose. The newpaper had an article on diabeetes 2...and said if your over 220 pounds that your body in no way can produce enough insulin for the needs of not making you diabetic. Something to work at I guess if you fall into that catagory...but they say as we age..it's an thing now in society any more going on...and the insulin opens up ones arteries and may be of help in that from having strokes. Docotesappt mid-week.

We went to look at an used car today and while doing that this lady with red hair apprached us and asked for some help, she wants to trun her father in-law into the police and had no idea where to go to do that...so we took her there...and dropped her off. She haad an ligth weight blanket around her, so I wonder if he kicked her out or abused her perhaps. Anyway...she's on her own now...to do as she pleases.

I bought some sheer window panels for my front window...I decdied with the roll up shade that it wasn't enough light when it was down, and glaring looking otherwise. So we are working on that one.

I don't know how much more I'll share of my book...I don't wan to give it all away...just in case you decide to read it yourself..and would like to maybe read the "Mists of Avalon" which is part of the series if I ever find it in an book store.

Lots of health isuues right now...but particularly is getting my hours of sleep set better then they are. If I wake up to much during the night..I'm tired and fall back to sleep and sleep to long in the morning...but sometimes I like listening to the talk radio at night...which airs until 2 am. I have always been an person thatstayed up later then most kids and slept in an bit longer also.I can remeber watching "Twilght Zone" as an kid...and mother fighting with me over this to go to bed. He haad good shows to watch also.Ones that really challenged ones thinking processes. So I go for now and see if I can get things better stabilized. I honestly don't think I am an diabetic..maybe border line, and the meds probably will help me lose weight if I don't have much mentabilsne to burn caolries myself..though they say the more you lose in weight the better that picks up on it's own naturally. Guess we will see here shortly unless they force me to be an diabetic.. and make me into one. In our family, I attribute an lot of this to one named "Joan"...and I wonder if it was an child type problem in ways that was waiting to come out....she was an very very fat person for th emost part. It may of been caused from stresses in her life also. She is no longer alive as far as I'm aware..or lat least I have her obituary on file with others of the family. I go for now. Have an good day...rain maybe by tonight as we honestly could use some to clear the dust out of the air.

Did you know that the business called "Blockbuster" movie rentals... was owned by the same people that ran "Boston Market"  Restruarants...or did when I worked for them. As you know the western division folded up doing business in my area, I hear they are still operating back east though. Had nothing to do with the food as it was the clarification of an "drive-in restruant" versus and "family based diner" type restruarant. for many they were not set up originally to handle both types of customers. I liked the original idea...why pay more for your food at the window...why not have some atmosphere in sitting inside the place and having dinner. When I worked the lunch time group...we had 23 of them that came from an computer company named Logistics..when they finsished building thier company lunch room..that was the end of thier daily business...really impacted our finainces.  figure the average meal was $6 per person...we lost about $690 worht of business an week.$2,760 an month in revenues. They were nice though to me, asked me to come and work for their company instead...maybe Ishould of taken them up on it.

I was listening to the Bill Cunningham show tonight...he was saying that we are so indebt in America...conisder an stack of 100 dollar bills and that one Trillion dollars would stretch with our debt for 667 miles straight up in the air..airplanes usally fly at 5 miles high locally.

I can not sleep tonight...awaiting this rain...and its all around, but it's not here locally as of yet. Ears ringing to high heaven as they say...with Tinninitus...from the air pressure dropping. So just had an small snack and some milk. Not sure I needed that either, but it was most soothing to me. Probably could use an rain poncho for the walking this fall also.

Bought myself tonight some flower bulbs for in the Spring, so I do hope to get out sometime this week and get them planted around the little pond I have that will be a small fountain someday if I can ever an water pump hooked up properly in it, as it has an small cascading water feature to it....with lilacs and azalea bushes also.

I'm off again and see if I can get some sleep. I did not find today an very good one in many ways. Besides car problems, lots of things not really done around here that needed done.Hope tomarrow is an better day in reguard. Suppose to be 67 degrees today and three days from now 89 degrees...warm...to warm in ways. Talk later on.
